some day I won’t have to feel the cold But I do now so I’ll know What it feels like when I feel fire Octavia had really been looking forward to the party Ivan was hosting. Though she didn’t know him well at all, he’d invited all of the Children and the Order to his house for a masquerade of sorts. It was a fun concept and Tavia hadn’t been to a real party in ages. She’d picked a tailored suit to wear, but paired it with a dramatic mask that drifted down across her left cheek. As soon as she got there, though, Tavia started to feel a bit on edge. There were more vampires than she’d expected, many of them not with the Children at all. They were all hidden behind masks, but there were scents of Death lingering around the room that kept her eying the exits whenever she could. Octavia tried to enjoy herself despite her reservations, but found herself lingering between rooms when everything went to hell. Ivan made his announcement, cheerfully inviting everyone before dramatically proclaiming that they were in hell. The vampires began to descend, only for Death itself to appear in their midst and declared that all must be killed as it and its followers would take the world that very night. Tavia, similarly to others, started to run from the room, her mind racing as she did. The war hadn’t been going particularly well, of course, but something had changed without notice. It seemed that Death and its minions had suddenly won. Tav didn’t have time to ponder this new development, as she immediately started to move away from the eye of this hurricane. The carnage was immediate, with Ivan’s coven attacking any mortals in sight. The humans and werewolves alike seemed to be hampered by something else, so Tavia could only suspect the punch, which she hadn’t tasted. As she moved into another room, she grabbed at the arm of one witch, pulling her along and giving her a little shove toward a window. Without watching the woman go, Tavia slipped into another room, not ready to leave quite yet. She was faster, stronger, than most of the victims at this party. Perhaps she could help more of them get out. Pulling out her wand, Tav managed to push a follower off its prey momentarily, hopefully allowing the wizard to make a run for it. And then across the room, she saw a dark-haired vampire approaching a pregnant woman with a gleam in her eye. Something snapped into place within Octavia and she moved across the room in a second, putting her body between the vampire and the witch. ”Fuck off,” Tavia hissed at the vampire, pushing her backward. Tavia looked back at the pregnant woman, who she recognized vaguely, but didn’t know her name. There were no windows in this interior room, they’d have to get back to the hallway to leave. ”We have to get out of here,” she commented above the screaming that filled the air. ”Come with me?”MADE BY VEL OF GS

Winona marie lavoie embers ★ | if you feel lonely, I could be lonely with you why are we so complicated? Maybe love is overrated The gala had started out wonderfully. Winnie could not remember the last time she’d been this happy, so much of her life in the preceding months had been a string of heartbreak, bad luck and poor choices all around. She had been knocked down, picked herself up and knocked down all over again more times than she could count, and for a while, all she did was hold her breath in anticipation of what was to come next. When the other shoe did not drop, she had made the mistake of taking that breath. She’d had no reason not to, after all. Cordelia Norville had won the election, which was a major step forward for them in the war. Her sister had come to stay with her, and was ecstatic about the prospect of becoming an aunt. She’d met a man, and a kind one at that. Giovanni was understanding in a way that she would have never anticipated. The plan had been to keep her cards close to her chest, she was not in any position to be breaking her heart once again. The plan had gone out the window the second he’d showed up at her door with flowers and a sheepish smile.
Gio was the one who had suggested they go to the gala. Winnie was not really one for formal events these days, she found her feet got sore far more easily, and she didn’t fit into any of the formal gowns she’d once been so fond of pulling out. If it had been up to her, she probably would have been content to sit her pregnant ass down on the couch in Gio’s sweatpants and watch reruns of Love Island. Alas, it had not been up to her. Gio had told her they were going, and even her excuse of not having anything that fit was shot down when he presented her with a beautiful blush pink tulle dress. When they’d arrived, she’d been relieved that she’d come along.
Now it was quite the opposite.
Gio had been off to get her a drink when the chaos set in. People rushed around her in a blind panic, screaming and shouting as flashes of spells filled the air in every direction. She could feel her heart beating half out of her chest, panic threatening to constrict her throat and glue her feet in place. She knew it was not an option though. Her grip was tight around her wand as she scanned the crowd frantically, looking for something, anything, that would get her out of there. She’d been so engrossed in her quest to escape that she had not noticed the vampire, not until another woman placed herself between them.
“My date… he’s still here somewhere, I can’t just leave him!”

“ This was what Valentyna had been born for.
Her father had raised her from birth to be the perfect weapon, a deadly beauty that would let nothing get between her and the blood she sought. And now, as mayhem spread around her, Valentyna was in her element. Wizards and mutts alike fell before her, even the acrid blood of werewolves sweet to her lips. Caspian had been the first to go, the stupid boy actually believing Valentyna had felt something for him. It had been satisfying to see the betrayal in his eyes as he looked up at her, bleeding out on the floor as she walked away, eyes already fixed on her next victim.
Blood coated the front of Valentyna's dress as she stood, kicking aside her latest kill. The greyish skin of the Order Member, drained of all but a few drops of blood, was no use to her now. She felt on top of the world, the power of all the potent blood she'd consumed only serving to intensify her ever-insatiable bloodlust.
There. The pregnant woman was obviously in far over her head. She wouldn't put up much of a fight, but Val would get intense pleasure from ending the life of her and and her bastard spawn before it had the chance to poison the world more than its mother already had. Valentyna started towards Winnie, wiping the blood from her chin. It would be replaced with Winnie's soon enough.
”Fuck off,”
"Aw, look, you've found a pet. A little lost plaything," Valentyna cooed, red eyes flickering to Winnie as Octavia moved between them. Cute—she thought she could protect the human from what was coming for both of them. "Why don't you step aside, darling. Join the correct side, and maybe you'll be spared from the fate of those disloyal to Death. Join the winning side, doll. You belong with us."
Octavia didn't need to know that her fate had long since been sealed; she had chosen her side, and she would perish with the dogs because of it. There was no place in Death's ranks for anyone who had not and would not always be loyal to Him. But Val kept that little nugget of information to herself. She'd finish with the human before giving the traitorous vampiress exactly what she had coming to her.
”We have to get out of here. Come with me?” “My date… he’s still here somewhere, I can’t just leave him!”
"Oh don't worry, darling, we'll take good care of your date." Valentyna could have laughed, but instead flashed her fangs in what came across as part-grin and part-sneer. Wherever the man was that Winnie had come with was, he probably had as much time left as she did, if one of the Kindred or Followers had not already dispensed of him. No one was leaving tonight, not without marks on their backs and more than a few wounds.

some day I won’t have to feel the cold But I do now so I’ll know What it feels like when I feel fire Perhaps a more logical person would’ve jumped at the chance to get themselves out of this place, given how bad the situation was growing. But Tavia had never been able to let other people get hurt while she stood back and did nothing. An old friend of hers had once called it a hero complex- maybe they were right and perhaps it was true that it would get her in trouble someday. But while there were people in trouble, Octavia wouldn’t stand idly by. ”Aw, look, you’ve found a pet. A little lost plaything. Why don’t you step aside, darling. Join the correct side, and maybe you’ll be spared from the fate of those disloyal to Death. Join the winning side, doll. You belong with us.”Tavia laughed, even as she bared her fangs at the other vampire. ”If I didn’t choose the side of the cruel before today, what makes you think I would now?” she hissed back, using the lull in action to throw a shield between the attacker and the other two of them. ”You really are dull, aren’t you?” ”My date… he’s still here somewhere, I can’t just leave him!”Tavia swallowed hard, considering the desperate words of a woman who didn’t currently have a lot of options. She hated to leave someone behind, it went against her very nature, but they were already up against unbelievable odds to make it out of this place without searching for another person. ”I’m afraid he may have to fend for himself, but I promise if we see him, we’ll join forces,” she whispered, turning her head just enough to direct her voice to the younger woman. ”Oh don’t worry, darling, we’ll take good care of your date.””Like hell you will,” Tavia hissed back, casting a tripping jinx at the feet of the vampire as she grasped the hand of the blonde and gave it a little tug toward the door. This was taking too long, they had to go or soon they’d be bleeding more than just time. ”We have to leave,” Octavia said firmly, her words this time to them both. MADE BY VEL OF GS
