❝ | After his encounter with Corvus, Ransom wasn't sure that he was ever going to see anyone in his family again. His little brother was better off without him - really, they all were. And yet, the letter from Cassia had come just days later.Ransom had assumed his sister dead. He loved Cassia as much as any brother could love his annoying kid sister, but he hadn't any faith on her survival skills. She was fragile and soft, despite her temper and penchant for mischief. He'd nearly broken down in tears when he'd read that she was not only alive, but she was safe... and, she wanted to see him.The meeting place was simple - while Hogsmeade had suffered just as much as the rest of the world, the path to Hogwarts had the additional coverage of the Forbidden Forest, should something go wrong. Ransom departed from his hiding place that morning, nervous and eager to see his sister. As soon as he saw the crop of familiar fiery hair over the hill, Ransom broke out into a run. The hood from his winter cloak fell from his head as he wrapped his tiny, precious little sister in his arms in the tightest embrace he could muster."Cass," Ransom said, voice a desperate sigh. "I'm so glad you're okay." |

cassia ines flint Cassia would honestly prefer to never see any member of her family again, but the past days she had felt like there was no other option but for her to contact Ransom. Harper was sick, terribly sick, and Cassia didn't know who else to turn to. She hadn't talked to any of her family members after Hogwarts closed down, after Cassia decided to go to Harper's house instead of going back to the people who had wanted to marry her off before she even finished school. When all chaos broke loose, Harper's family had relocated to somewhere they believed to be safe, and Cassia had gone with them, not leaving Harper out of her sight for even a moment. This terrible illness that Harper had contracted after the Hogsmeade attack was only getting worse, and the Healers had no idea what it could be. Not that it was possible to get Harper to a Healer now or vice versa, given the current state of their world. Hence, Cassia had contacted the only person she knew who maybe knew more about it.
She had asked Ransom to meet her in Hogsmeade, on that particular morning. She had been relieved when she received his reply, because it meant that he was still alive. She didn't know about any of the others, about her parents. She had tried to reach Corvus after hearing what had happened to him, but she hadn't been able to. She was pretty sure that Kieran would have gotten himself and his family to safety as soon as he could, but she hadn't talked to him ever since she had confessed to him she was in love with Harper. About Sonia, she had absolutely no clue. Maybe Ransom could tell her.
Cassia had used one of the still remaining portkeys to travel to the village. A place that she had such fond memories to, destroyed for the second time. Ransom wasn't difficult to spot, despite the hood and cloak that he wore. She saw him running towards her when he spotted her, and she couldn't help the small smile that appeared on her face as he hugged her tightly, her own hood slipping from her head.
"Cass, I'm so glad you're okay."
She looked up at him when he spoke to her, him being incredibly tall compared to her small frame. She had always looked up to Ransom the most out of all her siblings, with his career in Professional Quidditch. She had always wanted to be just like him. "It's good to see you too," she said to him, brushing a piece of her red hair behind her ear. "Sorry I didn't reach out sooner. I didn't know if any of you still wanted to see me," she said, not after how Kieran had reacted to her secret and how awfully their mother must have spoken about her after she told her she wasn't coming back to the Flint house. "Have you heard from anyone? Talked to any of the others?" She asked, despite everything she of course hoped that everyone in her family was doing good given the circumstances.
"Listen Ransom," Cassia started, knowing they didn't have that much time to get all sentimental about everything. "I needed to see you because Harper is sick. Terribly sick, ever since the Hogsmeade attack," Cassia said, pressing her lips together for a moment to hold back the tears that threatened to gather in her eyes. She never showed how worried she was around Harper, but now that it was just Ransom and her, things were different.
