Scout had always been allergic to peanuts - it was never a life-threatening allergy, nothing that would cause her throat to swell up like some children. It had been easy enough to avoid, and eradicating all sources of the allergen from her home had been simple enough. There was the occasional flare-up, as was normal in a world dominated by peanut-related products, but Nelle was able to keep it mostly contained. Unfortunately, that day, they had not been so lucky. Someone in Scout's class had brought a peanut butter sandwich to school, and had shared it with the young girl. Nelle had received a call from the school nurse an hour prior - her daughter had broken out into terrible hives and had promptly started the hysterics at her discomfort. Now, she was seated in the waiting room at St. Mungo's, patiently waiting for the nurse to call her back. (tagged)⏤ open!
