there's all these secrets that i can't keep ❝ Wes had made up his mind, and he knew what he was going to do. He kept it to himself - which was more than fine, there wasn’t anyone truly close in his life anymore since he had pushed Kitty out since his father attacked him. He knew that if either of his sisters discovered what he was planning to do, they’d try to talk him out of it. They’d tell him he was being stupid, being selfish. He hoped that one day, they understood. At the end of the day, only one person would know everything. Wesley hoped that when the time was right, they’d do as he asked. But he had yet to tell them. He had to talk to his sisters first. Kitty wasn’t a worry. She could fend for herself, she understood the danger. Her life would continue on. She’d probably hate him for a few years, but he’d take it any day over making her constantly look over her shoulder. Maeve, on the other hand…was a wild card. She always had been. Wesley didn’t love her any less, but he got far more exasperated far more often with her than he did Dinah. Knowing that she wouldn’t take any precautions to protect herself, Wes disguised himself. Their father had already found and targeted him. The eldest brother refused to let the monster track down his sisters. Wesley wondered if Kitty told Maeve what had happened to him. Or if she had seen it in the papers. He’d disappeared, and the elder sister had forcibly tracked him down and forced him to tell her what had happened. He hadn’t mentioned anything to the younger of the two girls. It was a bigger risk than he usually liked to take, but she had to know. He’d transfigured some of his features and used polyjuice for the others. He was now considerably shorter with platinum blonde hair, green eyes, and slightly pudgy. Looking into the mirror had been quite a startling moment - but a relief. Wesley hardly recognized himself. He highly doubted that any one of his father’s lackeys would recognize him. Just to be safe, however, he’d slipped under a Disillusionment charm to sneak out of his cottage window, one that had been left open the previous morning, before heading into town. He’d asked Maeve to meet him at a cafe a little ways out of downtown London. It was swarmed with muggles, which was an added layer of protection. Such a public place surely required magical intervention if something were to happen. This conversation wouldn’t be easy, but it was necessary. Wesley steeled himself as he sat down, waiting for his sister.

maeve estella dawlish While the world as she knew it seemed to be falling apart, Maeve was doing quite well. She was doing just fine, spending her days either around her house, or out in the city, often looking to cause trouble of some sorts. Apart from that, she spend a few evenings a week with Nathaniel. While she had never really liked the word, she supposed that he was her newest 'target'. But, so far she hadn't felt the need to con him out of his money just yet. She was surprised, but somehow she wasn't bored of him yet. She enjoyed the time they spend together, despite the ugly flannels that he wore and how excited he was about his silly radio show. Admittedly though, she had listened to his show a few times now, something she refused to tell Nathaniel himself. The last couple of weeks, it had been unusually quiet surrounding her siblings. Normally, she received a letter from either Kitty or Wesley every few weeks, but there had been nothing in the past months. Not that she even looked at all her mail, and besides, she was happy about the absence of the constant nagging. She had seen the damage that was done to Wesley's store in Diagon Alley not too long ago, but had decided that it was surely nothing to worry about. It was the only reason though, that she decided to show up at the cafe that morning. There were only a few people who knew about the nickname that she had given her older brother before she could really speak, only a few people who could have signed an invitation with that name, knowing what it meant. Naturally, she showed up late to the cafe. It was not a place she had ever been before, and it was packed with Muggles when she arrived. More than a few heads turned when she entered, which was not surprising when one took into account the outfit she wore to get a cup of coffee. Either way, she didn't pay any attention to them when she let her eyes wander through the cafe, looking for what she assumed was her brother. However, she spotted nobody who looked anything like Wesley. She wondered if he wasn't there yet, but that seemed barely possible as she knew she was almost fifteen minutes late.

there's all these secrets that i can't keep ❝ Leave it to his youngest sister to be both late and outrageously overdressed. Wesley ran his hand over his face, sighing deeply. Only Maeve, despite several intense warnings from both Wes and Kitty, could decide she was not in any danger and try to draw even more attention to herself.
He’d thought his warning to Kitty following the events at Flourish and Blott had sent a strong enough message, and he trusted his middle sister to pass along the warning. Clearly, the mistake he had made was assuming this attack would actually push Maeve into line. Leave it to her to decide that her brother being attacked for his halfbreed status made her decide she did not need to take any precautions. Especially as she scanned the room and sat down alone. Groaning, Wesley rose, knowing his sister wouldn’t have recognized him, and sat in the booth across from her.
“Do you make it your mission in life to make me prematurely grey?” He asked by way of greeting, “Because I may not look like myself right now, but when I do, I feel like I find ten new grey hairs every time you’re involved in something.”
Sighing again, Wes shook his head. He hadn’t come to admonish Maeve, though he certainly had more than half a mind to now, anyways.
“I think you’ve heard by now that the store was attacked,” he said in a low voice. “It was our father. He found me, Maeve, and because of that, he could find you, too. I need you to be careful. Not draw more attention to yourself. They’ve been tracking me, I can’t lead them to you.”
Maybe it was hopeless, trying to get his youngest sister to realize that she was in more danger than she would ever realize. Not while he looked like someone else, at least, and the severity of his injuries were still masked. The still-healing scar that stretched from his ear to his collarbone. The severed bicep that would never heal, that left his arm hanging uselessly from his side. None of that was detectable now.
“You’ve never taken anything I’ve said seriously, but I need you to take what I’m about to tell you seriously, okay? Can you promise me that you’ll do exactly what I say for this? I can’t…” Wesley trailed off, knowing that this would be one of the hardest things he’d done. “I need you to promise me. Please. For both our sakes.”

maeve estella dawlish Maeve hardly believed that she was bringing too much attention to herself by wearing this outfit. It was a mild one at least, she had far more outrageous things in her closet and this was a common thing for her to wear on when going out for coffee. Wesley being shocked by her wearing this only showed how little he actually knew about her. Though, Maeve also didn't recognise her older brother when he slipped into the seat opposite of her. Her face scrunched up a little, her eyebrows furrowing at the man sitting at her table. “Do you make it your mission in life to make me prematurely grey? Because I may not look like myself right now, but when I do, I feel like I find ten new grey hairs every time you’re involved in something.”
"I feel like a few grey hairs are the least of your concern right now. You look terrible, Wes," she said, pressing her lips together for a moment. "Couldn't you have made yourself hot instead of ugly? I'm the one who has to sit here and look at you after all," Maeve said, brushing her platinum hair over her shoulder. "Besides, I am not involved in anything at the moment, at least not that I know of. I have been quite well actually, thank you for asking," she said. “I think you’ve heard by now that the store was attacked. It was our father. He found me, Maeve, and because of that, he could find you, too. I need you to be careful. Not draw more attention to yourself. They’ve been tracking me, I can’t lead them to you.""Oh yes, I did see that. It looked like a mess," Maeve said, twisting a piece of her long hair around her finger. She did her best to make it seem like she was very sorry for Wesley and to have that show in her face. She was never the best at that, but she tried nevertheless. "And then you and Kitty always tell me that I am the one getting myself into all these messes. It seems like you made a mess for yourself now, really." Maeve said, brushing off the comment about their father being able to find her. "I don't think he could find me, I mean, I've been very good at hiding all my life," she said, nodding her head. “You’ve never taken anything I’ve said seriously, but I need you to take what I’m about to tell you seriously, okay? Can you promise me that you’ll do exactly what I say for this? I can’t…I need you to promise me. Please. For both our sakes.”
Her eyebrows furrowed together once more, looking over her brother once again. "Listen, I don't really do promises. At least not until I know what exactly I am promising. So, how about you just tell me what it is that I am supposed to promise you and then I will tell you if I actually can?" She asked, "I think that I am really making a compromise there,"
