Cut me down But it’s you who’ll have further to fall Ghost town and haunted love It hadn’t seemed possible in the weeks leading up to the party, but the whole thing had actually gone worse than expected. Theia turned on her, Death showed up, and Aylin had fled from everything. She was worse for wear since Theia had done her damndest to follow, seeming fully willing to kill Aylin in the process. Aylin was lucky she’d escaped with her life, but suddenly found she had nowhere to go. She’d send a patronus for Estella to flee, and flee her cousin had, leaving no trace of her belongings in the flat Aylin had once shared with her best friend. That was a small comfort, but Aylin didn’t dare go find Estella now, as that would only put her in more danger. She had to hope that Estella could look out for herself, though she felt a fair bit of guilt in preventing her cousin from leaving the country with her nanny. Estella was in more danger now than ever and Aylin was no longer in a position to protect her. But helping Estella would have to be a problem for tomorrow, as Aylin found herself bleeding heavily and needing a place to hide for the night. Haneul was the only person she could think of who wouldn’t immediately turn her over to Theia and the rest of the coven. Thankfully, she knew where he lived after many nights spent at the very place. As London burned, Aylin made her way on foot from where she’d Apparated to Han’s apartment. Her right leg was burning, and she looked down to see blood dripping on the ground behind her. Muttering to herself in the darkness, Aylin used her wand to wipe the trail, wrapping her stained dress around the wound as she continued up the stairs toward his apartment. Aylin silently cursed the damn stairs as she dragged her wounded leg behind her, wondering why Han had to live on the top floor. Reaching it, Aylin raised her good hand to the wood, banging incessantly on the door. Never mind that it was the middle of the night, that Haneul and his neighbors might be sleeping. They wouldn’t be sleeping for long, not with the way the city was burning. This place was still relatively untouched, but Han would need some extra wards to keep it that way. ”Han, it’s me, let me in!” Aylin yelled as she continued banging on the door. Only when it opened did she stop, immediately pushing her way inside and collapsing onto the floor. MADE BY VEL OF GS

| make me the monster haunting your dreams lessons are to be taught with actions over words London was burning.
Haneul had been woken by the sounds of cries coming from outside his window. It was not an uncommon sound, especially not in Knockturn Alley, however there had just been something off about them that had made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. Maybe it was the urgency, or the sheer quantity of apparition cracks that filled the streets as people started to flee from Merlin knew where, but he knew in an instant that he needed to leave. Whatever was happening, whatever had come across London to drive people into the shabbiest of neighborhoods to escape, it was not something that he was willing to stick around for. He’d already begun pulling his things from the walls and packing them away. It was odd, seeing his life coming together, neatly packed into bags. He did not stay anywhere long, not usually. So as he began to tuck his belongings away, he was surprised to see how many of them he’d accumulated since coming to London.
He couldn’t be sure why it had happened that way. There was hardly anything remarkable about the city, least of all the people who tended to be far more rude, even in the underground criminal circles. He had no ties here, no one he was particularly attached to and nothing he couldn’t get over with a good one night stand and a strong drink. Yet still, strings tugged at his heart at the thought of leaving the small flat empty and alone. He must be going soft.
He was jolted out of his thoughts by a loud pounding on the door. In an instant, his wand was in one hand and a knife in the other, though both proved to be for nothing as Aylin announced her presence on the other side of the door. The moment he let her in, the stench of blood filled the room. She was hurt, though she’d covered the wound in a scrap of bloodstained cloth that looked like it had once been a part of her very expensive evening gown.
“Jesus Aylin, what the fuck happened?” He hissed after checking to make sure there was no one else outside and locking the door. He didn’t bother to ask if it was okay before he peeled the bloodstained dress aside to get a better look at the wound. She wouldn't have come here if she didn’t want his help. “Do you know what’s going on?”

Cut me down But it’s you who’ll have further to fall Ghost town and haunted love Fucking hell, she was hurt. In the moments she’d allowed herself to daydream about leaving Ivan’s coven, leaving Death behind, Aylin had known it wouldn’t be easy. But she’d never expected things to go down in quite this way. In the end, it had been Theia who’d caused her the most pain, attacking her mercilessly following the betrayal of their friendship. It was easy to say now that she should’ve seen it coming, but Aylin had been blinded by the love she held for her best friend. ”Jesus Aylin, what the fuck happened?”Aylin blinked up at the ceiling, enjoying for a moment this cool floor where there wasn’t a vampire launching at her. Han set to work straight away, locking the door behind her and then starting to address the wound on her leg that was still pouring blood. Aylin barely remembered getting the gash- it had been all adrenaline to escape that horrid place. And then to snatch the one thing she could from the apartment she used to share with Theia. ”Do you know what’s going on?”Aylin moaned, pushed herself to a sitting position with the hand that still held her wand. The room blurred as she did so, causing her to mutter ”Fuck, fucking shit,” to herself. She looked at Han, suddenly grateful that she had one person left in this world who would help her. They always bickered, there wasn’t a true love there, but a mutual trust would be enough for now. ”Death won, it’s over, it’s taking over,” she sputtered, a line of blood trickling out of her mouth that she didn’t bother to wipe. ”There was a stupid freaking masquerade party and Ivan, he killed all the werewolves there, I think. And then Death came and its minions got the rest of the humans. We should probably run, they’re burning down the city.”Aylin blinked, looking around at the apartment, which was in its usual state, though she sensed that she wasn’t what had awoken Haneul. He was smart, perhaps he had already been planning to leave. They could maybe hole up somewhere remote, try to ride out this wave. If there was to be anything left after that. ”Also, I think my hand is broken?” she added, lifting her right hand from its place tucked against her. She didn’t actually think it was broken- she knew it was. The whole thing was smashed and she couldn’t actually tell where the pain was coming from anymore. Just the sight of it made her dizzy. ”Any chance you can fix it?”MADE BY VEL OF GS

| make me the monster haunting your dreams lessons are to be taught with actions over words Haneul’s mouth was pressed into a thin line as he assessed the wound. He could hear Aylin talking to him, her voice tight and strained from the pain she was in, yet every word that left her lips felt cold and foreign to him. It didn’t make any sense. He knew that something had gone horribly wrong, that London was on fire and there was clearly a reason for it, but this? He would never have thought that something as catastrophic as Death itself being set loose on the city would happen during his lifetime. It was not something he had ever signed up for, and not something that he was remotely interested in sticking around to see what it did. If it had been up to him, he would have been out of the city hours ago. However, this threw a wrench in his plans.
Aylin was marked in some way, clearly. She had managed to get herself involved with just about the worst group of people she possibly could have chosen. Had she not already been rather gravely injured, he would have smacked her repeatedly over the head himself. They would be after her, he knew that deep within his heart. Aylin knew too much, and had been involved too deeply for them to let her go without a second look. And yet, he could not bring himself to leave her. She was his friend. Before she was dangerous, before she was a vampire, she was someone he cared about, and he knew that his stupid bleeding heart would not be able to bring himself to leave her behind.
“Christ, Aylin, you really are shit at picking your friends,” He grunted, grabbing at the hem of her dress and tearing off a strip before wrapping it around the now partially healed wound on her leg. Without another word he reached forward and took her hand, frowning down at the swollen appendage and started muttering healing spells. “Well, we can’t stay here. I think you know that as well as you do, and there’s no fucking way I’m waiting around for you to go get your shit. Once this is healed, you’re going to go to the cupboard above the fridge and grab all my cash, I’m going to grab the rest of my shit and then we’re leaving.”

So long to the person you begged me to be She's down, she's dead Aylin would’ve liked to be the type of person who could do this all on her own, as independent as she pretended to be. But she’d known for a dreadfully long time now that it just wasn’t her- she needed help, she needed people. Now that Theia wasn’t her people anymore, wasn’t willing to be her person, the next best person she could think to go to was Haneul. He’d been there for her over the past few months, perhaps not in the normal way that a friend would be, but in a friendly way nonetheless. She didn’t want to drag him into this, drag him down with her, but now that she was standing here she realized she would do exactly that to avoid being alone. She should’ve hated herself for the thought. Aylin hated being a burden, after all, and had hated each and every time Theia had been sent to console her when she’d gotten upset from doing some horrific thing. Yet, even with Han practically berating her, she knew she was safe in his arms. She didn’t feel like a burden, she just felt cared for as he wrapped her healing wound and focused his attention on her hand. ”Christ, Aylin, you really are shit at picking your friends.””I’ve noticed,” she responded, her vision briefly going black as something in her hand popped. She refrained from saying what she felt in that moment- that despite his words, she’d done a pretty damned good job in picking Han as a friend. She’d gotten a million things wrong, but the one thing she’d gotten right might just save her. ”Well, we can’t stay here. I think you know that as well as I do, and there’s no fucking way I’m waiting around for you to get your shit. Once this is healed, you’re going to go to the cupboard above the fridge and grab all my cash, I’m going to grab the rest of my shit and then we’re leaving.”Aylin nodded numbly, her hand growing warm as he continued to work on it. ”I already got what of my shit was get-able,” she whispered, her free hand clasping at the locket around her neck. Like a fool, she hadn’t worn it to the party. And she’d paid dearly for its retrieval in the form of the injury Han was now trying to fix. Theia always made sure Aylin paid for her mistakes. ”I’ll go wherever you want, I’m sorry that I don’t have any money on me,” she continued, wincing but avoiding screaming as something shifted in her hand under Han’s careful spellwork. Her vision blurred again, before refocusing on a single spot on the kitchen floor. ”You’re right, we should go as far away as we can manage.”MADE BY VEL OF GS

| make me the monster haunting your dreams lessons are to be taught with actions over words Every moment that they stayed here meant that their chances of getting out of the city alive were shrinking. If he was a smarter man, he would have closed the door in Aylin’s face the second he laid eyes on her injuries. As much as he could heal them, he was not an expert and they would not be perfect. Certainly they wouldn’t be close enough for them to make good headway out of London, and he would have been completely fine to run without her slowing him down. A year ago, he might have done it too. Haneul operated best when he worked alone, it was a lesson that had been hard to accept, but one he had grown comfortable with since his teen years. He did not trust others, and by that logic he was never betrayed. Furthermore, he never had to worry about anyone that he cared about getting hurt because of him if he didn’t extend his affections. It was a flawless plan, and had worked til now.
Somewhere along the line in the past year or so, however long he had been messing around with her, he had gone and gotten himself attached. He didn’t know how it had happened, or when. Frankly, had it not been for this moment here and now, sitting on the floor of his apartment covered in her blood with her shattered palm cupped between his hands, he may never have come to that concussion. It wasn’t love, that was for damn sure, but he was fond. Fond enough to take the risk of dragging an injured traitor of the Followers along with him on his escape.
“‘S fine, just means you’re gonna have to get a job whenever we get where we’re going,” he replied gruffly, lifting her hand to examine it a little more closely. “I mean it’s not perfect, but it’s the best that I can do under the circumstances. See if you can open and close your fist, give it a couple tries but we gotta go. I’m thinking America, think you can handle that?”

So long to the person you begged me to be She's down, she's dead It was difficult to listen to Haneul as he spoke, with the bones of her hand literally shifting around. She caught a glimpse of it, too, one of them was visible from the top of her hand as it moved back into place. For a moment, she thought she would be sick, but the stronger side of Aylin’s stomach prevailed. Her hand grew a little warm once more and then it seemed Han was done, at least for now. ”’S fine, just means you’re gonna have to get a job whenever we get where we’re going.”Aylin nodded numbly again, a part of her wondering if there even would be jobs. If Death spread out past London, past the UK, there might not be any normal types of jobs to be had. And Death had seemed intent on taking over the entire world. Han hadn’t witnessed that, but she had. Aylin expected they’d be scraping by for quite some time, working any jobs to get what money they could or perhaps even trading for resources. ”I mean it’s not perfect, but it’s the best that I can do under the circumstances. See if you can open and close your fist, give it a couple tries but we gotta go”He lifted her hand up, inspected it, and then let it float back over to her. At this point, it almost felt like Aylin’s hand wasn’t even attached to her person any longer. At Han’s instruction, she flexed out her fingers, a sharp burst of pain rushing up her arm as she did so. She curled them back in toward her hand, wincing as the same burst rushed through her again. ”Good enough,” Aylin affirmed, nodding more sharply at her companion as she flexed and closed her hand a few more times, adjusting herself to the pain of it a little more with each instance. ”You’re right, we need to go.””I’m thinking America, think you can handle that?”Aylin blinked at him for a moment, considering this. Though technically she’d been born in another country and spent some time in several more, Aylin had been right around here for as long as she could remember. Her parents’ home, then Hogwarts, then London. It would be so different now. ”Yes,” she agreed, pushing her fear to the side. ”That’s smart, it’ll take them time to get that far. But they will spread, that much is clear.”Aylin took a deep breath, steeling herself once more as the sharp pain from her hand dulled into a throb. ”It’ll take time to get a portkey of that distance set up,” she commented, considering this. ”If we can get out into the country, we should be able to set up a safe place for the night and start working on the spells. Perhaps we can get over to Wales, be just a bit closer to the west anyway.” MADE BY VEL OF GS
