Sephie eased herself into a chair at one of the tables that lined the perimeter of the room. Ivan certainly seemed to know how to throw a party, everything was far more lavish than she ever could have anticipated, and were she not so heavily pregnant she might be enjoying it more. Truth be told, given the stresses of the school closing and the uncertainty about the future, Sephie’s blood pressure had been a tad high for the healer’s liking. She was supposed to be on bed rest until the baby made her appearance, but Sephie had never been especially good at being still. One last hurrah, she had decided, before she begrudgingly complied with the healer’s orders and retreated to her bed. Getting here had been a bit of an ordeal, Sonnet had been distraught but hadn’t been able to say why. Fortunately Sephie and Felix had managed to soothe her until she fell asleep- they’d almost abandoned the idea of attending the party entirely when their daughter’s eyes finally fluttered closed, but Sephie was determined to make an appearance after investing all the effort into getting ready. “Godric, are they always so heavy? I don’t remember Sonnet being like this,” Sephie remarked to Felix, hands snaking between her lower back and the back of the chair, trying to ease some of the persistent strain that lived there in the third trimester. Before her husband could reply, however, the lights dimmed and the man of the hour made his appearance on the stage in front of the dance floor. Sephie couldn’t help but chuckle at his dramatics, but her amusement was not to last. “... You dine, in hell.”Instantaneously the room changed, suddenly overrun by Kindred and servants of Death, engulfed in flames. Sephie’s heart dropped, they’d been deceived… Suddenly they were running, Felix’s hand in hers with their wands drawn, but there was nowhere to go, all of the exits were blocked. Curses flew, the air filled with screams and the scent of blood, and just when it couldn’t get worse Death itself materialized, instructing its army to kill everyone and proceed to burn London. This was the end, the realization filled Sephie’s gut with dread, heavier than the baby kicking at her ribs. Someone had blasted a hole in one of the walls, big enough to escape through, so the Fawns began to fight their way to their one chance of survival. A trip jinx caught Sephie when she was nearly there, she had to turn awkwardly to land on her side rather than atop her baby, her temple smacked the floor and she momentarily saw stars in her vision through all the smoke and flames… “Going somewhere?”Her blood turned to ice. you die, i thrive, and so it goes, Marianna had come to the party for the bloodshed. Though the end goal was to get her daughter, she couldn't deny the rush that came with causing this kind of damage. What she had not accounted for was the arrival of Death, with its orders to bring London to the ground. She could manage that without giving it much thought. It was knowing that only those who sided with it would survive that gave her search purpose. Her lover was there amid the smoke and gore, and though they had not yet, once the vampires were done picking through the Order, they'd set their sights on those they knew were not saved by their Father.
She picked her way through the crowd, her nerves shoved down deep as she went about her original mission. Just as she'd finished off some sniveling Order lackey the ground shook from the force of the hole that had been blasted in the side of the room for a means of escape.
The Dark Lady turned her attention there, deflecting spells aimed by the defenders of those who rushed toward the exit. She managed attacks of her own, dragging back those desperate for the safety of night back into the fray before dispatching them. Her golden gown was splattered with blood, its train soaked by the puddles that formed on the ground in her wake. As she neared the makeshift exit. Get rid of those who stayed to fight, take out those she could get to before their escape, and then she could find Aurelius.
Maybe even before it was too late, though the thought of his unmoving body amidst the corpses behind her was one she dared not entertain. Certainly not as she took note of the felled Persephone Fawn, her swollen middle an indicator of the child she carried, and her protector tried to lift her off the ground before the advancing army of Death took them all.
"Going somewhere?" Marianna asked, her wand dangling from her fingertips. She'd already removed her mask; what good did it do to hide her face anymore? Her pinned curls had fallen, leaving strands to fall in her face. She knew what she looked like, no mirror was needed to confirm she looked exactly like her mother had.
"I can't let you all leave, I'm afraid."

Say out loud We will not give up on love now This party was a welcome distraction to all the doom and gloom that surrounded them. Hogwarts had just closed, no one knew if it would ever open again. Asher was home now, sulking around the house as Sonnet and Anna Elise tried to entertain him with their antics. And then there was the little girl they had on the way, still making Sephie sick on occasion and raising her blood pressure. Felix could barely keep track of all of it. Felix had gotten ready quickly, wearing his nicest suit with a rather simple black mask. But as soon as he was ready, Sonnet started yelling from across the house, tugging at Sephie’s clothes as she tried to get dressed. Felix had tried to talk with her, to understand what was wrong, but their current youngest couldn’t express anything other than distress. He’d distracted her for a while as Sephie finished getting ready, and then the two of them managed to get her to go to sleep. But the outburst had left a sour feeling in the pit of Felix’s stomach. What did she know that he didn’t? ”Godric, are they always so heavy? I don’t remember Sonnet being like this.”Felix chuckled, ready to remark that he recalled Sephie saying something similar with Asher, actually. Complaining that their second child felt so much heavier than the first. Perhaps it was the time between them, Sephie had forgotten what it had been like to carry Lavender by the time she’d gotten to Asher. And now with this little one again. Felix didn’t get a chance to reply, though, as Ivan took over the room, quieting the conversations with a dramatic entrance and speech. Felix rolled his eyes slightly, but his annoyance turned quickly to terror as Ivan revealed that this was not the lighthearted party they had all signed up for. Felix dropped his glass, of which he had only taken a sip, pulling Sephie to her feet even as his stomach clenched in pain. There was something in that punch. A trip jinx caught Sephie, yanking her from Felix as she tumbled to the floor. Felix immediately went to cover her, his hands feeling slow even as he raised his wand. He cast a shield around them, reaching a hand down to try to pull Sephie back to her feet. They’d need the both of them together to escape this, to get back home to the kids that needed them. And the one he now realized had hoped to keep them away from this. ”Going somewhere? I can’t let you all leave, I’m afraid.”Even as Felix tugged at Sephie’s arm, he knew exactly who this was by her voice alone. But nothing prepared him for how she looked when he moved his gaze toward her. Marianna Lestrange that day looked a dead ringer for her mother, who’d once struck terror into her victims the same way her daughter now did. For a moment, it felt like the world stopped around him and Felix knew there was only one choice. Maybe it was brave, maybe it was stupid, maybe it was the only thing left. Felix stepped around his wife, still only half up from the floor. Standing in front of Sephie, he leveled his wand at the woman who’d once been the most feared being in the country. Even now that Death held that title, she was still a terrible opponent. ”You leave her be,” he growled, launching his first jinx at the dark lady. MADE BY VEL OF GS

The voice, despite having not heard it in some time, was deeply familiar to Sephie. Marianna had been a colleague once, a fellow professor at the now defunct school, and the one now responsible for the horrors around them. Through the daze in her head it was still simple to make the connection. This woman had been the one to release Death in the first place, had she not been so foolish, so arrogant to think that she could control it, so many others would still be alive. The chill in her veins switched quickly to fire. If Marianna wasn’t going to let her and her husband leave without a fight, then so be it. Just as suddenly, the weight of the grief she’d been carrying since April was aflame, all of this was Marianna’s fault. She’d let Death loose, she’d put the order to burn Hogsmeade where her child and lovers had died, and if Sephie didn’t know any better she’d assume that Marianna had a part in this party, too. No matter how angry she was, however, at nearly her due date getting off the floor was easier said than done. Even with Felix’s help (Felix, who seemed to be moving more slowly than he ought to, who smelled oddly different) it took Sephie a moment to get her feet under her again, wand drawn from the depths of her sleeve. Her husband’s shield was splintering already under the barrage of spells, she wove her own charm to fortify it, but doubted she would buy them much time. They needed to run, distract Marianna somehow and get beyond the anti-apparation wards. “You leave her be,”Felix, sweet brave Felix, she hoped that he could stand his ground, they only needed a little more time to get themselves out of here… With Marianna hopefully preoccupied with countering her husband’s attack, Sephie followed with a spell of her own. Undoubtedly the Dark Lady could handle being outnumbered, they were going to have to work together to get the upper hand. “We aren’t asking permission, we are leaving,” Sephie hissed, flinging another spell. She knew she needed to run rather than engage, but how far could she reasonably get before Marianna would catch up? Before one of Death’s minions intercepted her? Her unarmed hand cradled the swell of her belly. Nimue. She’d fight tooth and nail to give her daughter even a chance, and now… Well, now Sephie didn’t have a choice. MADE BY VEL OF GS

you die, i thrive, and so it goes, Marianna had not stared down Persephone Fawn in some time, certainly not since she'd been ousted from Hogwarts. Even before then, they had only spoken on the rare occasion of necessity and when niceties were necessary. In the past, she would have found great joy in taking on her coworker; a halfbreed who thought she was better by patience and kindness alone was irritating all on her own, but getting rid of the matching set would be even more delicious.
"You leave her be."
The former Dark Lady rolled her eyes at the husband's perceived grand display of heroism; the accompanying jinx recoiled into the shield charm around the two, followed by her own attack. "Not the best protector, are you?"
There was chaos everywhere, and amid the panic and newly rising flames scattered about, Marianna had not laid eyes on Aurelius again. He could hold his own, just as she could. This was what they had come for; the blood and carnage would lead to an already promised end. Still, Marianna paused, her wand hanging gracefully between her fingers as she locked eyes with Persephone. Pregnant, with a little girl already named in her mother's racing thoughts; had that not been her not half a year past? They weren't the same, she had done everything in her power to protect her girl while the Fawns set theirs right in the fire.
"We aren't asking permission, we are leaving."
"My permission isn't what you need; my orders are clear," Marianna said, allowing her indifference to creep in once more. "The more of you that don't make it past these walls, the better for me." She was quick, and masterful in her work as another spell struck, fracturing the already failing shield. It would only be a matter of time, seconds even, before there was no more time for threats and demands. Two opponents were no easy task, but she knew they were no match for her; by the looks on their faces, they did too.
"I'll get little joy out of slaying you, Persephone, but I will. Leave him behind, try and make it to the lawn, or perish together."

Say out loud We will not give up on love now Even as Felix cast every jinx that came to his mind, he knew that something was wrong, that he was slowing unusually. There were werewolves on the floor all around, coughing and clutching their stomachs. Felix felt his roll as well, knew that he was falling victim to whatever was happening to the rest of them. By some miracle, Sephie seemed to be moving more normally. Or at least as normally as someone so heavily pregnant could be expected to. ”We aren’t asking permission, we are leaving.”Thank Merlin, she was up and moving, adding more power to Felix’s attack. His wife was a beautiful spellcaster and they worked well together. But Felix felt he was growing even slower than before, his spells so very easily blocked by their attacker. And Sephie, holding their little girl, needed to escape. ”My permission isn’t what you need…leave him behind, try and make it to the lawn, or perish together.”Felix hated Marianna for it, but there was a part of her that was right. Sephie would never get out of her with him, that was growing clear as he heaved, his body still between the two women even as they cast spells around him. Felix glanced around wildly, spotting a window at the end of the hall- the last hope for the two of them, or perhaps just for Sephie if she could make it that far. Just as he cast another stunning spell at Marianna, he felt a painful pang in his stomach that caused him to dip lower as he clutched his abdomen. Poison, it had to be poison. Only adrenaline kept him standing as she pain tore through him, weaving its way from his stomach up to his chest. ”Sephie, go!” Felix panted, shifting to the right so she could perhaps use him as a shield to run. His vision started to blur as she shield cracked and now his spells were the only thing protecting him from the cruel witch. ”Please, leave me, I won’t make it. Go.”MADE BY VEL OF GS
