biography No parents want to bear a broken child. Unfortunately for Stéphane and Célia, they weren't given a choice. Some might call Fifi's condition a curse for their mostly loveless marriage - others might call it the blessing needed to bring them together. Unfortunately for Delphine's parents, they saw it to be the former, though that did nothing to bring them closer together. They were wed out of duty, and they parented their sickly child out of the same sense of moral obligation. It was discovered within a few years of Fifi's birth just why she was so sickly - she had inherited a blood curse, and was a Maledictus. She first transformed into her ferret form at three, startling her parents. It was a curse that had skipped both her mother and maternal grandmother, having not been present in the family since her great-grandmother succumbed to it. Fifi was isolated from others, with her Maledictus form being something her parents wanted to keep hidden. As a result, their attention turned to Winona to be the caretaker of Fifi, and their pride went to their son, Nicolas. Despite all of this, Delphine rarely let her spirits dim. She was given a limited time to live, with most healers stating that she would succumb to her curse by the age of fourteen. However, Fifi seemed to have a decent control over her form, and surpassed that age entirely. Now, her parents seem to just be playing the waiting game, but Fifi has more hope for herself than that. Over a decade after her "expiration date" as she calls it, Delphine is beginning to have more uncontrollable shifts. While she can still transform at will (though she tries not to while others are around so as not to spook anyone), she is finding it more difficult to control when she shifts without control, and it is becoming more difficult to will herself back into her human form.
