biography Heron and Mendora grew up in the muggle world, with no knowledge of the world that lived among their own. They were born and raised in a small French town south of Paris, and it was in that same town that they married and raised their children. First born was Roman, a boy who was a handful from the very start. He was loud and mischievous, even before he had younger siblings to rope into this troublemaking. There was nothing to could stand between Roman Illoive and want he wanted, no matter how old or small he might have been. Roman's siblings soon number two, a brother two years his junior and a sister six. Though Roman was closer to his brother by virtue of their closeness in age, Anastasia had a special place in Roman's heart. She was his baby sister, and he would do anything for her. Roman and his siblings grew up in a happy home, It wasn't until shortly after Roman's eighth birthday that there was any indication that everything was not as it should be. Strange occurrences had always follow Roman, whether it be the way he was somehow always able to reach the cookies his mother kept on the top shelf of the pantry, the tree that spontaneously fell in the backyard after Roman got his football stuck in its branches, or even when all of his sweaters turned green because he lost his favorite one. Heron and Mendora wrote off most of those incidents as coincidences or accidents. As Roman grew older, however, and similar things started happening around Anastasia, the Illoive parents were unable to deny it any longer. On Roman's eleventh birthday, the headmaster of Beauxbaton's Academy for Magic visited the Illoive home, and at last they had answers. The wizarding world was an alien concept to the family of muggles, but Roman took to it like a fish to water. He belonged in that world, belonged with people like him. At Beauxbatons Roman flourished, finding people just as outgoing and reckless as he was. At times he struggled, far away from home and everyone he had ever known, of course, but for the most part Roman's time at school was enjoyable and uneventful. In his sixth year, Anastasia joined her brother at Beauxbatons, the second magical Illoive of the family. Roman graduated from Beauxbatons somewhere near the bottom of his class; he loved everything that the school had had to offer, but sitting in a classroom was not for Roman. He found that he couldn't sit still or keep track of his assignments, even in the classes he enjoyed the most. His grades were less than spectacular, but the job Roman had set his sights on post-graduation cared little for his academic success, or the lack thereof. Heron and Mendora had started all of their children in gymnastics as a child, and it was a passion that Roman had maintained even through his years away from home at Beauxbatons. A few months after graduation Roman was recruited by Cirque de La Lune in London to be a trapeze artist. He jumped at the opportunity and moved to London shortly before the circus began touring through the United Kingdom and Europe. Not long after relocating to London, Roman joined the Order of the Phoenix. Blood purists had been an issue in France and at Beauxbatons, but in London they were everywhere. Roman was called a Mudblood in his first month in London than he had been in his entire Beaxbatons career, and none of it sat right with him. If the Order were the people fighting against those kind of people, Roman was going to be on the front lines of that fight.
