biography For a Crown Prince of Nigeria, life is never normal. Especially in the fifteenth century. Lafayette, as the firstborn of King Lafayette III and Queen Adaeze, was born with a destiny, to rule what is now Nigeria. His formative years were rich in history, full of the best tutors, resplendent lifestyle, and weighty expectations. Magic, and blessings from the gods and goddesses, were an equal part of his upbringing as non-magical education was, as the clans that his family led believed heavily in spirituality and magic, and being "gods-blessed", what his community called what are now referred to as witches and wizards. Lafayette was one such child. He started training early, with Blessed individuals from multiple specialties. Healers, Burners, Tiders, Winders, he knew them all. Magic in his homeland took a far more elemental shape, with people specializing focus into each subset, led by a representative god or goddess. Where most gods-blessed children in Nigeria didn't attend a formal school, instead taking an apprenticeship, Lafayette did - his royal blood being the excuse. Neither of his parents were magic, nor his sister, born three years after Lafayette. Olusetile became the home where he learned far more than just elemental magic, and received a more thorough education than many of those around him. He was destined to take the throne, to rule. Why should he not have the best of everything? Following his completion of school, Lafayette was swiftly married to a noble girl from one of the clans his family governed. Their marriage was diplomatic, a duty they both knew they had to carry out for the line of succession. Not soon after their union, Sade swelled with child. The elder of the Seer clan predicted a boy, a son to take up his father's name. Sade and the child both died in the birthing process. Some indicated that this meant the royal family was now cursed by the Reapers, or those who wield the magic of death. It was an alienating grief that Lafayette endured, now a widower and still childless. He took some time before agreeing to marry again. Several years later, he married Ebele, and when she, too, was with child, they kept it far more secret until the birth of their son, Lafayette Fulbright V. The little prince was followed quickly by a daughter, Sarauniya, and then their final son, Olufunmilayo. Not long after the birth of Olu, King Lafayette III died. His wife, Lafayette IV's mother, remained ruling as Queen to allow her son to settle into family life. She continued to rule for nearly two decades. Towards the end of that decade, Lafayette was traveling on a diplomatic mission, representing the crown and its interests. It was on his voyage that he became a victim of a ruthless Blood Reaper, or vampire. Ivan Alucard never spared his victims--but Lafayette, who had taken several both male and female concubines, was his mate, and was spared. Unfortunately, he was not the same. He was now a Blood Reaper, too, a fact he concealed for several years until his mother, Queen Adaeze, died. Knowing that he could not rule as king while concurrently not aging, Lafayette did the only thing he thought he could do. He abdicated the throne to his son, Lafayette V, and fled the country, following the bond until he came across Ivan. The pair have been inseparable since, though neither was particularly committed to the other. Lafayette adopted the nickname Faye shortly after. While they share a deep, intimate love, it is not reserved solely for the two of them. Faye will follow wherever Ivan leads him, but neither is terribly upset to know that the other has several lovers.
