personality
family information
biography The story of Bill and Fleur Weasley is, by now, well known. They were married at the height of the Second Wizarding War and spent the first years of their life together at Shell Cottage. With the defeat of Voldemort and the end of the war, Bill and Fleur relocated to France to be closer to Fleur's family. It was there they started their own family, which soon numbered three gorgeous baby girls. Rémie Elyse Weasley was born the third and final daughter of Bill and Fleur Weasley on a blustery, freezing cold January afternoon, though from the very beginning Rémie's life was fraught with struggle. The youngest Weasley daughter was born five weeks premature, a tiny redheaded newborn (coincidentally, the only child that took after her father in that regard) that spent much of the first weeks of her life in the hospital in Paris. Not long after birth, it was discovered that Rémie suffered from a rare genetic condition, one that affected her growth both before and after birth as well as her hearing. Rémie had been born completely deaf in one ear and almost completely deaf in the other. Though the hospital offered Bill and Fleur many options for possible trials and even surgeries that could be tried to give Rémie even partial hearing, the two quickly decided against any sort of intervention. Their youngest daughter had been through enough already in her short life, and they didn't feel it was right to subject her to surgeries and extended hospital stays for something that may or may not work. Bill and Fleur took their daughter home and began learning sign language instead. Rémie was just shy of one year old when her sect of the Weasley clan relocated from France back to London, to be closer to Bill's family and so that the three Weasley girls could attend Hogwarts with their cousins when they came of age. Rémie's earliest memories are of her, her sisters, and her cousins playing in the Burrow's gardens, not of the home in France she had spent her first months in. The early years of Rémie's life were spent alongside her siblings and cousins in relative bliss. All of the conflict and strife was before Rémie's time, in the years of the Second Wizarding War long before she was even thought of. As Rémie saw it, the dark days were behind them, and there was nothing but good times in the futures of her family members. Rémie's magic manifested early; at five years old she turned the entire kitchen purple out of frustration, and just a week later did something similar to her own room. Rémie and her accidental magic proved to be more of a handful for Bill and Fleur Weasley than either of her sisters had been, but they took it in stride. It was no surprise to anyone when Rémie received her Hogwarts acceptance letter on her eleventh birthday, and in September of that year she joined her sisters and a good number of her cousins at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was a surprise to no one at all when Rémie was sorted into Gryffindor; the Sorting Hat had barely been placed upon her head before it was calling out the lion's house, and Rémie joined her eldest sister and almost all of her cousins. She was a natural fit in Gryffindor and found her place among her peers easily. Most students in her year and house didn't know sign language, but Rémie found her own way of making friends and communicating with others. Classes were another hurdle. For the most part Rémie found that the professors and staff of Hogwarts were accommodating and willing to work with her in whatever way she needed. It was easy in those classes to forget she had to work harder than her peers to succeed, even. Other classes, Defense Against the Dark Arts in particular, Rémie found less success in, with some professors making little effort to provide Rémie with the aid she needed. While she succeeded in some subjects, her grades and morale in other classes suffered. Rémie, to her credit, though, did her best not to let it get to her—or at least, not let it show. The Weasley clan has been no stranger to tragedy in recent years. First the Boy Who Lived was killed for the world to see, then the death of Rose and many others close to the family were soon to follow. As the youngest of the family Rémie has been shielded from it as best her parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins could, but she sees more than she lets on. Rémie is far from old enough to wade into the war herself, but that doesn't mean she has been untouched or unaffected by it.
