biography The Van Helsing family is a rather prominent one, in both Pureblood society and the world of halfbreeds and monsters, known to have even some of the most fearsome vampires hiding away, out of fear of what might be done to them if they are caught. Famed vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing was the patriarch of the family, coming from a long line of hunters with a penchant for ages old blood feuds and an incredible knack for killing vampires. He was feared by many, and revered by many more, a reputation which he passed along to his children, as he raised them to be just as fearsome and revered as he was amongst the magical society, they were raised in. Aaliyah took to it like no other, proud to be a Van Helsing, and even prouder still to be feared and wield weapons of which Muggles had never seen before. Their family was fictionalized, mystified in order to be palatable to Muggle audiences - a mockery made of their good name and many terrible movie adaptations of their life that erased the existence of the Van Helsing children altogether. It fueled her frustration, Aaliyah's desire for power, and she was a force to be reckoned with while she was at Hogwarts, with a soft spot only reserved for one person - Verona Potter. No one saw how she transformed when they were around each other, just as no one saw the way that she messed with Verona's head, made her feel unimaginable things, but also made her angry and feel guilty for things that were never her fault. It all came to a head when Aaliyah vanished practically overnight, after the failed attempt on Archibald Weyland's life. Her worst fears had been realized, as she had become the very thing her family hunted primarily - a vampire, a creature of the night, a loathsome bloodsucker. The rage that had consumed her following her turning had been almost blinding, and she acted on pure instinct during the nights as she crept through London's darkened streets, feeding off of innocent Muggles and striking fear into the hearts of those who heard the news, sending a shockwave through the city. Her anger drives her actions, and one action that she is intent on committing, is worming her back into the heart of Verona - until she holds it in her hands, bloodied and still beating.
