biography As the only child of one of the most important landowners of Southern England, Rose Bennet's partner in marriage was carefully chosen. At the age of twenty, she married George Carmichael, whose family earned their fortune through their trade with the United States. While the marriage was mainly arranged by their parents, Rose and George had known each other from a young age, and real love quickly blossomed between the two of them after their engagement became official. After their marriage, the two of them moved into a beautiful home along the southern coastline of England, close to both Rose's and George's families. They lived a happy, and quite domestic life together, but that changed when Rose was attacked by a vampire during a trip to London in the summer of 1925. If it had not been for George, who found her in an alleyway, she would have passed that night already. Instead, Rose turned out to be quite the fighter, not ready to give up on life. A few weeks after the attack, Rose found out she was pregnant. Soon after, it became clear that her husband was not the father of the child. Instead, the vampire who attacked her in London left her with a child. The young Carmichael couple was told the pregnancy would be difficult, but together, they decided that they would get the best care for Rose to help her and the child get through the pregnancy. In addition, George would claim the child as his own, as to not bring shame on Rose. He would regard any child of the woman he loved as his own. It was a miracle that both mother and son survived, but in May 1926, Achilles Kingsley Carmichael was born. Unfortunately, her Healers told Rose that it was unlikely that she would ever have children again, and therefore, Achilles would remain an only child for the rest of his life. Nevertheless, he was a happy child, always finding ways to entertain himself inside the Carmichael Manor, and usually found close to his mother, at least to some extend. However, the peace and quiet in the manor was disrupted when it got a new inhabitant. Patroclus Rosental was the son of one of a long time family friend of the Carmichaels, and because the boys were about the same age, it was decided that Patroclus would come and live with them in the manor. Not used to having another boy of his age around, Achilles simply stayed away from Patroclus as much as he could, which was not difficult in the enormous house. Not long after Patroclus moved in, George fell ill. After a short sickbed, the man who had always been like a father to Achilles, passed away. After George's death, Achilles finally reached out to Patroclus, asking him if he wanted to play a game of soccer in the gardens. In hindsight, this was the best decision he ever made, for Patroclus would quickly become his best friend in the world. Only a few years after, during their last year of Hogwarts, the boys were drafted into the army and sent to mainland Europe to fight in the Second World War. The hardest thing for Achilles was to leave his mother behind. She had tried her best to use the connections she had to get Achilles out of serving his country, but in the end, Achilles knew he wouldn't let Patroclus go on his own either way, and so the two of them enrolled in the army. Achilles didn't necessarily like the fighting, but he seemed to be good at it and therefore he quickly caught the attention higher officers. Not long after, both Achilles and Patroclus were promoted and continued to fight in WWII. All Achilles wanted was to make George, who had served during the First World War, proud. It seemed Achilles did even more than that, as he came back to England as a war hero. After their first war, many more wars followed. Achilles was shipped off to every conflict or war that Britain was involved in, with Patroclus by his side as his advisor. For a long time, Achilles sacrificed everything for his country. He did not just risk his life, but also his sanity and his best friend. His first breaking point came when he was stationed in Vietnam at the end of the long conflict in the country, and his mother fell ill. He couldn't be with her during her last moments, and was refused permission to go home for her funeral. If it hadn't been for Patroclus being with him, Achilles wasn't sure what he would have done. Not wanting to be home in England without his mother, he easily complied to being sent from conflict to conflict again. That was, until the Iraq War, where nearly loosing Patroclus was the last straw for Achilles and the two of them moved back to London. Achilles was the heir to both he Bennet and the Carmichael fortune, and inherited all their lands and money when his mother passed. Instead of actively making use of this, Achilles chose to never return to his childhood home, where both his parents were buried. While he didn't have to work a day in his life because of the inheritance, he took up a job as a military advisor just like Patroclus. Achilles immediately hated the job, feeling as if he needed much more action to enjoy going to work every day. So, after only a few months, he decided to become an auror instead.
