biography The eldest child of the Atropos family was a girl. It wasn't a terrible thing to happen - inconvenient, perhaps, but not terrible. This was because shortly after the birth of Eris, a boy followed. A boy to take on the brunt of the family name and the expectations associated with a pureblood heir. A boy to allow Eris some freedom and opportunity outside of expectation. Shortly after that, another child, this one another girl - Cleo, followed may years later by the fourth and final child: a boy named Castor. Perhaps the Atropos family did a bit too much manifesting when they named their children after Greek gods and goddesses - Eris, the goddess of strife, Erebus, the primordial god of darkness, Clio, the muse of history, and Castor, the mortal sibling to an immortal pair. But perhaps the greatest manifestation of all was their surname - Atropos, named for one of the three fates that controls death and a mortal's string of life. Of course, it would not be realized until much later how true their parents named them. One thing was certain about these four children: they would all attend Hogwarts. Eris was the first to receive the famed letter, as the eldest. Upon her arrival at the school, she was sorted into Gryffindor - a minor surprise, given Slytherin's long history with pureblood lineages. She became the sole Atropos to be sorted into the Lion's house, as the rest of her three siblings found their home in Slytherin. School was difficult for Eris in particular, as the structure and planning of the academic environment clashed greatly with her inherent need for spontaneity and engagement. The duller, more textbook-driven subjects were left by the wayside in her grades, while other more engaging subjects that allowed room for decisions on the fly and less structure, like flying or dueling. Despite what her parents had wanted, Eris did not earn perfect marks in school, easily cutting short any hopes of her obtaining a Ministry job or something of similar prestige. Instead, Eris pursued Quidditch. Having been on the Gryffindor team during school, she was an easy recruiting target. It wasn't until the end of her final year of school that she decided she would take the Chaser position on the Wimborne Wasps. Initially a reserve, Eris devoted herself to the sport and training, making sure that she became the best - and she did eventually earn a starting spot. Eris leaned into the fame that came with being a professional athlete. She grew to love it, enjoying the access it gave her to parties and other things. A complete and utter tomboy, Eris prefers the company of men platonically, but has one close girl friend from her childhood, Valeria. She has little regard to how her face affects her family, and chooses to remain out of the drama. Particularly when her younger sister was cast out for her Sight and vampirism, Eris did nothing - it didn't affect her, truly, in her mind, and her sister would figure things out.
