biography It was perhaps a bit unusual, a vampire falling in love with a human witch, but that was exactly what happened to Aylin’s parents. Her father was traveling through Belgium when he met Eliana, a beautiful young witch with a soul that seemed as old as his. They fell in love, but never had the chance to make definitive plans for their lives before they found out that Eliana was pregnant. If it wasn’t risky enough to be pregnant with a half-vampire child, Eliana was also quite small of frame, so the two were very worried and temporarily moved to England to be near St. Mungo’s, which was better known for dealing with halfbreeds. When the day came, Eliana was rushed to the hospital immediately. The healers did everything they could, but she bled out in childbirth, leaving a minutes-old child in the arms of a centuries-old vampire. Aylin’s father was unprepared for this and after a few days of trying to care for the child, abandoned her at the same hospital. Aylin was then sent to a muggle orphanage, where she spent a little under two years before being adopted by a slightly older wizarding couple, who recognized her half-vampire qualities. Aylin Ainsley lived a relatively normal childhood, aside from the teasing of her ridiculous-sounding name. Her parents picked up quickly on how often she needed blood to supplement her human food and encouraged her magic as it came in. They sent her off happily to Hogwarts at the age of eleven, where Aylin was sorted into Gryffindor, much to her surprise. She had always been a quiet child before Hogwarts, but Aylin really found her stride at school, most of it thanks to her closest friend, Theia. Aylin and Theia were thick as thieves, Theia never caring about Aylin’s halfbreed status. It turned out not to matter much, as Thea was Turned the year after they graduated. Aylin was able to help her friend adjust, living in a shared flat in London. Always loving creative things, Aylin joined the Siren's Song theatre in the tech department, trying to work her way up to designing sets. Earlier this year, Aylin learned of a second cousin of hers at Hogwarts- Estella Nassau-Weilburg. The two managed to connect, learning that their mothers were cousins and therefore learning a bit more about their own pasts. When Death arrived on the scene, Aylin wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. She felt the pull, like the vampires did, though not quite as strongly. But Theia was pulled in hard and Aylin fell into the Followers as well. She’s been doing Death’s bidding for a while now, though with wavering loyalty. She’s never been truly convinced that Death cares for her, or considers her its child the same way the full vampires are. But as long as it serves her, Aylin is willing to serve.
