biography John and Isla Holmes were not exactly a fairytale couple. The two of them had married more due to there being no other options than out of true love, and while neither of them ever resented the other for it and they got along swimmingly as co-parents, there was never really any love shared between the two. As such, for Arthur's entire childhood, he believed that all marriages, all relationships were much like the one shared between his parents. That impression ended up shaping the majority of the relationships he would end up in in his life. As a student, Arthur excelled. He was incredibly talented and found quite a passion for all things academic, adoring the act of learning and sharing knowledge. During this time, he struck up a particularly good relationship with the aging archaeology professor at the time. Seeing potential in the boy, the older lady took Arthur under her wing as her intern, training him to be her replacement upon her retirement. Arthur loved his job and thrived in the teaching role. He found that he loved working with children and made some long lasting bonds with both his co workers and students. Really, things only started to go wrong for Arthur upon him taking over as professor. It was during this time that he got into his first serious relationship, one that was not entirely healthy. His boyfriend isolated him from those he was close to, pressured him to move out of Hogwarts so any transgressions he made against Arthur would go unseen, effectively covering his tracks. It was a long three years before he was able to break free from that, though it shook him to his very core. Arthur was a changed man, coming into the school year, and tends now to keep to himself, very much nervous about trusting new people. Arthur continues to enjoy his teaching position at Hogwarts, though he has not yet made the move back into the castle, and lives a peaceful life in the countryside with his dogs and of and off again friends with benefits.
