biography Estella Katarina Adelaide Charlotte was born the seventh child of the fifth son of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Though she was so far down the line of succession that a great tragedy would have to befall the royal family for her to ever have even a chance at being Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, the rules and expectations of royalty were impressed upon Estella from a young age. She was meant to be kind and compassionate, strong and wise, and personable and intelligent. For the first six years of Estella's life, she lived in Luxembourg with the rest of her family. Though she was the youngest, and two years younger than her closest sibling, her older brothers and sisters were always patient with her and always willing to spend time with her. All of that changed, however, on her brother Pierre's eleventh birthday. A temperamental child when she wasn't the center of attention, Estella's magic manifested itself for the first time when her brother's birthday cake exploded in the middle of the gathered family's rendition of 'happy birthday.' It didn't take long for her magic to begin manifesting itself in other ways and cause her parents to worry about their youngest daughter, as well as the safety of their other children. Lara and Sébastien did not understand the powers their child had, but they knew two things: it was dangerous, and it was nothing they wanted in their family. Just before her seventh birthday Estella was quietly sent away from Luxembourg, moving to London with her nanny Ana Marie. Estella never wanted for anything and was continually showered with gifts and a lavish allowance by her parents, but from then on she was on her own. She was only allowed home to visit her family twice a year, once during the summer and once at Christmas. Her parents wrote and called her often, but their relationship with their youngest daughter was distant and strained at best. Estella eavesdropped on more than a couple phone calls between Ana Marie and her mother in which her mother mentioned protecting her other children and doing what was best for her family. Estella was enrolled in a top-tier private school in London and she was enrolled in any and all activities she desired. She was bought the best, hottest designer clothes and as much money and possessions as she could want, her parents making up for their distance the best way they felt they could, substituting money and possessions for familial love and affection. On her eleventh birthday Estella received her Hogwarts letter, finally putting a name to the strange occurrences that happened around her. The letter was intercepted by Ana Marie and was quickly forwarded to Estella's parents. Immediately, they were against sending her to Hogwarts. They were hoping she would grow out of it, after all, and hoped that soon enough the strange things that happened to and around Estella would soon become a memory of the past. There was no need to indulge those kind of things, no need to encourage her problems further. Strange things tended to happen with children, after all. Estella was young, she could still move past this and be able to come home and fulfill her duties as a member of the royal family. It took a visit from the headmaster of Hogwarts, a sudden visit by her parents (the only time Sébastien and Lara have ever traveled to London to visit their daughter), and a long, tense conversation that lasted hours before Estella was at last permitted to attend Hogwarts. Her parents are still against the idea of her practicing magic, and she is not permitted to have her wand or access to any of her school things during breaks, but they no longer tried to stop her. Estella was bought only the finest of school supplies, her and her nanny spending hours in Diagon Alley the August before her first year attempting to find everything on her school supply list. The finest of robes, the perfect wand, a high-quality trunk, brand new schoolbooks... Estella Nassau-Weilburg boarded the Hogwarts Express on September 1, 2017 with everything she could possibly need to start her time at Hogwarts properly. It was at Hogwarts that Estella finally found where she belonged. She was sorted quickly into Gryffindor, her bright and sometimes reckless spirit shining through easily. Within her classmates she found people like her, boys and girls who understood her and who were willing to welcome her with open arms. Few knew of her royal status, and the ones that did quickly grew out of treating her any different. At Hogwarts she was just another student, just another young muggleborn witch learning about the magic she possessed and what she could do with it. Estella quickly found the classes she liked and excelled in, soaking in all of the knowledge of the magical world she could during her time at school. As Estella explored the magical world and found her place in it, however, the rift between her and the rest of her family was only widened. She was more than just a freak or a danger to her siblings now—she was a witch, a thing of myths and legends and scary stories told to children in the dark. Her siblings wanted nothing to do with her, even more so than they had before, and her parents rarely, if ever, wrote her at school. Her two yearly visited to Luxembourg became more and more strained, and she found herself dreading them each time they drew near. Estella and her parent's relationship has suffered in the past years, though as the end of her schooling nears, discussion of her permanent return to Luxembourg have begun. She can control her magic now, after all; to Sébastien and Lara, that is the only reason she was sent to Hogwarts in the first place. She can forsake all of her magical connections and her magic as a whole upon graduation and return home to be married off to some foreign prince, and hopefully not pass on her defect to any children she might have.
