biography Descended from a long line of Pureblood witches, Temperance Lachapelle was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1978, the eldest of two children had by Cerise Laveau and Jean-Pierre Lachapelle. From a young age, she was exposed to magic and vodou, the darker aspects of magic being a commonplace in her household due to her mother's heritage and her private schooling, the delve into her destiny as priestess only increasing tenfold when she began attending school in Jamaica not long after. At the age of fourteen, Temperance lost her father to a freak accident, an event that went unexplained, though many of the locals suspected that her mother had done it or the shadows she convened with had taken her husband's life. The young witch herself thought nothing of it, however, focused on her schooling as she excelled in her studies and became the top of her class at Tanlekoia due to her proficiencies in Divination and Potions, two subjects which the school was known for. One year and another incident later, Jean-Pierre Jr. was lost at sea during a fishing trip, presumed dead when he never returned and the only thing found was his boat on a nearby island. After Temperance completed her schooling, the young witch and her mother relocated to New Orleans, where they made a home for themselves in the French Quarter and established a repuation as descendants of the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans, Marie Laveau. They were feared just as much as they were respected, and they garnered fame and attention for their work and exceptional skills with the ancient dark art of necromancy. Being able to commune with the dead and demons was an art that came natural to the Lachapelle women, who made a living out of it. When the priestess was thirty, she met Jacques Charron, whom she married not long after a few months of courting and dating. Their relationship was passionate, both husband and wife opinionated and brutally honest, which led to many fights between them. After four years of a tumultuous marriage, Jacques disappeared, presumed dead when all that was left of him where he was last seen, was a pair of gloves. At the age of thirty-eight, four years after losing her husband, while still living in New Orleans, Temperance met Basile Damaso. At the time, the young wizard was becoming known as the Shadow Man, a young man with a deep interest in the world of vodou, but not as it was understood by Temperance and her family. They met under the guise of her wanting to see if he was legitimate, and being impressed by his work, she requested that he accompany her to France — where they would continue to work together. Travelling now between Bordeaux and London, the mambo and her apprentice have once again begun to garner reputations and names for themselves as a more sinister force brews on the horizon.
