biography From the very beginning, the eldest child of George Weasley and Angelina Johnson, named for his father's lost twin, was not a child to inherit the legacy of his father and lost uncle. Even as a toddler, it was clear that Fred II would not be a trickster, not be a prankster. He was a quiet child, always pulled into whatever trouble his cousins would get into but never instigating it himself. Fred soon became the oldest of four; his twin sisters Roxanne and Starline were born two years after him, and the final son of their sect of the Weasley clan followed three years later. Fred did his best to take care of his younger siblings and, though neither of his parents expected it of him, he often found himself acting as a parent to his younger siblings and even to some of his younger cousins at times. Being raised in the Weasley/Granger-Weasley/Potter clan was akin to being raised by a village, and there were plenty of times in which Fred found himself lost in the mass of children running about, fading into the background while his more outgoing cousins took centerstage. Fred entered Hogwarts at eleven years old, expecting to be placed into Gryffindor. His parents had both been Gryffindors, all of his Weasley uncles and aunt had been Gryffindors, and all of his cousins up to that point had been as well. It only made sense that he, too, would be sorted into the lion's house. Fred felt like he let everyone down when the Sorting Hat, after sitting atop his head for almost four minutes, at last called out Ravenclaw. Though Fred did his best to not let it weigh on him, the blue and silver he wore would forever mark him as different from his cousins, siblings, and his family as a whole. His family never treated him differently, nor did they love him any less, but Fred spent far longer thinking about how very different he was from all of them than he would admit to anyone. It would be six years before a second Ravenclaw joined the Weasley clan in the form of his cousin Chloé. The Sorting Hat was right, though; Fred was unsure initially that he would ever find his place in Ravenclaw, but it wasn't long before he settled in and could never imagine himself anywhere else. He found some of his best friends in Ravenclaw, sharing his love of learning and the pursuit of knowledge (no matter how niche) with others in his house. Fred had many characteristics of Gryffindor house, traits he had inherited from his parents or picked up from the rest of his family, but he was a Ravenclaw at heart. Fred graduated at the top of his class, earning top marks in almost all subjects and excelling at his OWLs and NEWTs. He was a prefect and a member of multiple clubs, including Dueling and a brief stint in choir (he had a phenomenal singing voice, but found out quickly he was not terribly interested in the arts). Following graduation, Fred followed his close friend and classmate Daphne into working at a local historical society in London. Matters of the past, whether it be history, ancient runes, or any number of other subjects, had always been fascinating to Fred, and it was exciting for him to be able to make a career out of it. It was two years after his graduation from Hogwarts that Fred Weasley II met the man he had hoped to call his forever. Royce Dawson was a man that immediately captured Fred's heart; he was a kind soul, someone who looked out at the world and saw only light. The two met at a club one night just after Fred's twentieth birthday and were dating within the month. Their relationship was easy and simple, as great first loves tend to be. Though Fred had had a few boyfriends in Hogwarts and in his first few years after graduation, they all paled in comparison to Royce. Fred saw his life with Royce stretching forever before them, marriage and kids and everything he could ever want. Royce was the one for him, and he knew it. But, as they say, all good things must come to an end. August 2021 marked the loss of Harry James Potter, the Chosen One, and the Weasley clan and the world alike mourned his loss. Fred had been at the World Cup, cheering on his sister and cousins as they vied for the World Cup title. It had begun as an amazing day, and would end in tragedy as Fred watched his uncle be killed before his very eyes and his cousin kidnapped by the Dark Lady herself. For Fred, though, more than one person was lost in the simultaneous attacks on the World Cup and the Ministry of Magic. Royce had been an intern in the Department of Mysteries and an Order member, recklessly brave and determined to fight for what he believed in. Those facets of his personality proved to be a deadly combination, and Royce was among the fallen when the dust at last settled. While the rest of the Weasley clan mourned the loss of their brother and uncle, Fred mourned the loss of the love of his life at the same time, pulling away from his cousins, sisters, parents, and uncles alike. He had never felt as alone as he did in the weeks and months following his loss, unable to fathom how he had lost so many people he loved in so little time, feeling like he was the only one who even noticed that Royce was gone, that the man who had been such a fixture at Weasley family gatherings was gone in the same way Harry was. Uncle Harry and Royce, both gone in a flash. Fred hadn't even known Royce was in danger until he was already gone. As the war rages around him, Fred has done his best to remain afloat. He is a changed man, forsaken love but desperately chasing the feeling of being close to someone like he had been to Royce, trying to find comfort in other men while running from even the beginnings of feelings. Shortly after Royce's loss Fred took on a second job, easily landing a position in the Ministry's Department of Runes and Symbols as a translator. Anything to keep him busy, anything to keep him from having to deal with his grief.
