biography Life in the Tomaras household was nothing short of demanding. Growing up in Greece, Thalia and her twin sister, Melina, were expected to be perfect. Perfect grades, perfect posture, perfect speech. It was like walking on eggshells around their parents. As children, they were pushed into lessons rather than allowed to play outside with the other children. They were told to hold themselves higher than everybody else. They were perfect- or they had to be. But it had gotten too much. When they were nine years old, the twin girls showed remarkable abilities- manipulation of light and shadow. Thalia had been granted the gift of light, while Melina was able to controls shadows. But their powers did not show themselves in the traditional manner. Rather, the twins had been pushed too far, and in a fit of rage, a childish tantrum really, the two girls exploded. Their abilities pressed out everywhere, taking out everything around them- including their parents. Orphans, the girls were brought into a small organization for gifted children without parents, o mágos enoménos, or Magus United, and taken to Chapaevsk school of wizarding arts to learn magic. It was at Magnus United, and further at Chapaevsk, that Thalia started to distance herself more from her sister. While they had been close growing up, the episode with their parents had changed both of them. Thalia found that she loved the power she held and spent many of her days practicing her abilities, crafting new ways to use them. She wasn’t terrified of what she had done, as Melina had been. In fact, Thalia craved more of it. More power, more freedom. Thalia grew popular at Chapaevsk, picking up Polish quickly and surrounding herself with a group of friends amongst which she was always the leader. She never got into anything suspicious and seemed a model student, getting an offer to join the Greek Ministry as an Auror after graduation. Unbeknownst to her employers was her participation in a dark wizard cabal as well. Thalia was able to use her position in both organizations to great effect, capturing dark wizards who were her enemies to keep up her reputation at work while also gaining traction in her off-hours occupation. More recently, Thalia made the press by taking down the leader of the Greek dark wizard cabal, killing the leader and locking up many of his top-ranking officials. She was hailed as a hero in the Ministry and was offered a wide range of promotions. The darker side, of course, knew her quite differently. As she had killed the old leader, Thalia gained control of the cabal she had claimed to destroy. Their membership was lowered somewhat, but is well more committed to Thalia than they ever were to previous leaders. Upon hearing word of the rise of the Death Eaters in the UK, Thalia leveraged her fame to get a transfer to the UK Ministry, where she’s claiming to help the Auror’s office take down more Death Eaters with her realm of experience. She allowed herself to be recruited by the Order, but used her contacts from Greece to reach out to the Death Eaters about what she can do for them as well. With her sister already in the country several years, Thalia figures they may now have an opportunity to reconnect.
