Michael takes so much after his mother that it's truly difficult to tell that he is Jean's son, and he goes unrecognized by the elite pureblood and his family. Michael was taught from a young age to keep his bloodline a secret - in fact, his mother wouldn't tell him who his father was until he was just about in his mid-twenties. Despite being born in the late fifties and being of magical blood, Michael never attended Hogwarts. He was born into servitude to the St. Croix family, and despite receiving his letter, it was not thought proper for a servant to attend the same school as the son of the family he served. He was relatively close in age to his half-brother, Jacques, and it was deemed highly inappropriate. As a result, Michael learned very little magic on a technical spectrum, as is taught at Hogwarts. He instead learned household spells from his mother and other magical servants, as well as simple charms that assisted in his job, usually borrowing the wands of the elders in the household. Michael's job changed over the years, as he aged. He started technically working for the St. Croix family when he was about six, serving as someone to help with the dishes and the cleaning as well as a page boy. As he hit his teens, he became a hall boy, continuing to rise through the ranks as he grew older and taking the roles from men who had mentored him very closely. It was shortly after his twenty-fifth birthday and promotion to valet that he was married to the new governess of the household, brought on to learn the ropes of the household and in hopes of teaching the young children of Jacques, who had taken over his father's fortune. While both being servants, Michael and his wife were very happy together, building a simple, but contented life - though the descendant of Jean St. Croix could not help but wonder what his life could have been like if he had the same sort of status and reverence that came along with half of his bloodline. Together, he and his wife had three children: two daughters and a son. When in his early forties, Michael was given his final promotion - he became the butler of the St. Croix estate, the highest-ranking male servant. It is the position he has served ever since, through simple times and some more...difficult ones. If there is anyone who knows the complete history of all the St. Croix drama, it is Michael. He himself is part of it, though hardly anyone knows that. One of the more...remarkable, recent incidents involved the passing of Michael's half-brother, leaving the entirety of the fortune and household to be inherited by Jacques's son, Marius St Croix, or so Michael thought. What had not been accounted for, however, was Jacques's second wife, Verity, a money-hungry thing that was younger than even Marius. Verity had spun a tale of Marius's abuse towards her - something that Michael himself had never witnessed, and she used Michael to get her way in court, threatening him. Now, however, it is Michael who holds some power in their little dynamic. He is the only one that can bring Verity's world crashing down around her, and he may use that information to get some share of the St. Croix fortune, which is technically his birthright to lay claim to. In terms of the strife surrounding the world, Michael knows where the loyalties of his masters and current mistress lie. He knows that he cannot cross them, so he carefully stays out of meddling in affairs. His role is as a servant and nothing more - or at least, as much as possible. Nowadays, Michael's pride and joy have become his grandchildren, who all will attend Hogwarts just like he made sure his children did, and he adores seeing them. RP SAMPLE excused
