Xander is a brightly intelligent, creative young man, and he is well aware of the fact. He exudes confidence and charm, he's a big, vibrant personality that refuses to be confined. Xander can easily be found arrogant or bullheaded by many, but he likes to think he has the talent to back his attitude. Fiercely independent, Xander abhors asking for help, and especially loathes people offering it or stepping in to do something for him without asking. Xander dodged pretty well all of the pureblood ideals his family attempted to instill in him, and while possessing a baseline of mild selfishness, has a strong moral sense about not discriminating against people of halfbreed or less than pureblood status. family information
biography The Zabini’s were most well-known for Blaise’s mother, who notably was widowed seven times by progressively richer husbands. As soon as he graduated from Hogwarts, Blaise married a lovely French woman and the two of them quickly started having children. They took their Blaise’s mother in to have help caring for the children, though she quickly lost interest in her grandson after Caelia was born. Xander right from the beginning was something of a problem child, fiercely independent with a nose for trouble, he got into all sorts of antics, though his parents largely brushed it off with a lackadaisical "boys will be boys" attitude. They didn't seem to change their tune until Xander went to Hogwarts, and bucked generations' worth of tradition by being sorted into Ravenclaw rather than Slyhterin, and began to fight hard to instill their prized values into their wayward son. Xander largely played along, but relished in being at school and out from under their thumb. While still rambunctious and mischevious, academically Xander did quite well, especially in potions, though hovered near the top of his class in most subjects. Being partially-sighted made athletic pursuits in Quidditch a poor choice, but Xander became popular for other reasons, being able to charm many of his peers- especially girls- and developed a reputation as being something of a ladies' man. Much to his parents chagrin, both his social and romantic connections stemmed beyond proper purebloods, and they attempted to put ever tighter leashes on him as he graduated from school. Unsure of what exactly he planned to do, Xander spent some time back at home, playing along with his parents' games whilst maintaining his former friendships in secret. After some time he found himself itching to be back at Hogwarts, where he'd been able to sample a limited amount of freedom, and applied for the potions intern position over the summer. Blaise and his wife weren't exactly thrilled, believing their son to be above teaching, but reluctantly relented- some profession was better than none at all, after all. Xander took up the post shortly before the beginning of the 2021/2022 school year, though the Zabinis have been conspiring to get their son to settle down following Caelia's marriage to Ezra Knight in September. Shortly after his sister's wedding, they announced to Xander that they had arranged a fiancee for him, Astrid Henio, a girl from a proper pureblood family, who was also several years younger than him and still in school. Suffice to say, Xander isn't ready to settle down, and certainly not with someone so young, and is scheming a way out of the marriage, as well as taking particular interest in his mentor...
