biography augustus rookwood was a man who pledged his loyalty to the dark lord far before the death eaters had reached their peak, and continued to do so for years to come. his marriage to ophelia was arranged, loveless; at least on his end. yes, perhaps convincing a young lady you were head over heels for her in order to win her affection wasn’t the most morally right thing- but that was something augustus never claimed to be. within a year of graduating hogwarts they were engaged, and another year married- and soon after that he had secured his fortune with the atkinson family. in the first wizarding war, augustus aided in the cause through his position in the department of ministries as a spy. though he was imprisoned upon his discovery, he was allotted the ability to periodically see his wife- and as such, odysseus and his elder brother came to be. though odysseus was a mere six years old when his father participated in the second wizarding war and escaped from azkaban, with all the stories he was told, he could recount its events by memory. it wasn’t long before his loyalties were sealed in stone- the death eaters would have his support, even if he couldn’t join them yet. even as his father was imprisoned yet again, his stance was only further solidified. when he was young, just upon graduating hogwarts, he took up a job at piqued curiosity as a shelf stocker. its owner, khun mae, took his attention far more than he wished to admit, and eventually- eventually he ‘let’ her feed off him. though he abhors the idea of his pure blood being tainted by, of all things, a vampire, he grew addicted to the sensation that was the feeding. even as he moved on to gringotts and established himself in the pureblood community, that past of his would continue to haunt him. his brother disgraced the family name by going off and fighting for the “good” side, but odysseus wouldn’t make the same mistake. though he never did get around to joining the death eaters officially, for he knew that would put at risk all the success he had garnered (and all the connections too), he is a silent supporter of their efforts. though not easy to buy, odysseus has corruption down to his very bones, and has allowed a very things at gringotts to ‘slip’ past him. because of this, and the family money he has taken his brother’s portion of, he has established quite a life for himself in the high wizarding world.
