biography Jonas Oliver Avery was born the only child of Charles and Elizabeth Avery. Their marriage was never a loving one, but they were happy enough. They, like many purebloods, were an arranged marriage. Such was just how things were. Elizabeth Yang was the eldest daughter of a rich Taiwanese pureblood family that relocated to London shortly before Elizabeth came of age. Charles was a year and a half older, and their marriage was arranged within six months of their meeting. While Elizabeth had always wanted a big family, one proved to be more than enough for the Avery's. Jonas was a handful as a child, especially as Charles' career in the Ministry of Magic became more serious and he had less and less time to with his family. Elizabeth played the part of the dutiful Pureblood housewife, as she was expected to. Their family may not have always been harmonious and tight-knit, but they were happy enough, and that was all that mattered. In school, Jonas was quick to find people who were just like him; he was as much as troublemaker at Hogwarts as he had been at home, but now he had co-conspirators and best friends. He was sorted quickly into Hufflepuff, where he excelled, never near the top of his class, but never at the bottom, either. After graduating from Hogwarts, Jonas started working at Zonko's Joke Shop. It was not a job born out of necessity, but more so because he needed something to do with his time. His family was rich and well-off, and the job was just a way for him to pass the time. When Jonas was 22, he fell in love for the first time. The girl was a fellow pureblood, around his age. It was love at first sight for him, and when Jonas fell in love, he fell hard. The girl became pregnant, but she wanted nothing to do with the child. In the end, she left England altogether, leaving Jonas alone with an infant. He loved the girl with all his heart, perhaps even more than he had ever loved that girl, but there was still in a hole left in his heart by her leaving him. Four years later, disaster yet again struck. Jonas' father fell sick, dying soon after in St, Mungo's. Shortly afterwards, Elizabeth announced she would be moving to their summer villa in Italy to live, deeding the Avery estate to Jonas. It was just Jonas and his little girl now.
