Billie is at first glance, a prim and proper lady due to her strict upbringing. She has a hard time metaphorically letting her hair down, and always seems to be on edge one way or another. A lover of order, Billie is meticulously neat and organized to the point of being bothered by mess and the very idea of germs- she can often be found shelving and reshelving books until they're just right, or scrubbing library tables until they shine. Gifted with music and linguistics, Billie can be quite eloquent both in person and before her piano, though struggles with expressing her emotions which are often suppressed. An introvert by nature, she'd much rather be left to her own devices, but those willing to break through her barriers will find an unexpected gentleness that most don't get to see. family information
biography Henrietta and Joseph had the standard beginning to a pureblood marriage, the coupling being orchestrated by their parents when they were seventh years in school- though the two of them came to fall in love anyway, and were married the following autumn. After a few years they took to the duty imposed by their parents and began having pureblood children to continue the Price lineage. Billie was born the youngest of four, the second of the identical twin girls. Despite already having two sons with which to continue the name, much pressure was placed on Billie and her twin sister growing up to become proper ladies, and eventual wives for pureblood men of good families to make more pureblood babies. Billie accepted the pressure, and by all means, became the perfect daughter her parents wanted. Prior even to her own schooling, Billie was encouraged to study the arts, spending hours in her father's study reading books- and when she expressed interest in the piano in the living room, was immediately thrust into extensive lessons. Billie took to piano like a fish to water, and her mother fixated on her youngest's talent, ensuring she practiced daily, even as she went to begin her schooling. Bucking Price tradition, Billie was sorted into Ravenclaw for her zeal for knowledge and passion for her creative pursuits. She graduated with top marks, and rather than immediately marrying, took her time to pick through potential suitors while finding work as a concert pianist. Billie took little interest in any of the men presented to her by her parents, though sensed their frustration as she approached her late twenties, and at twenty-eight married a pureblood Scotsman, Jonathan MacGregor. Their relationship was largely lacking, the pair of them seemingly going through the motions to appease their respective parentage. They never developed the passion that Billie's parents had seemed to find, barely even tolerating each other. Billie became pregnant two years into their marriage, the pregnancy was wrought with complications, and Astor Henrietta was born premature. During her recovery Billie renewed her interest in academia, spending sleepless nights in piles of books with a sickly infant tucked in the crook of her arm. Reluctant for a similar experience it was a few more years before Billie and Jonathan tried for another child to give him a son to carry the name. The second pregnancy was even more difficult than the last, Billie often in and out of the hospital until another early delivery which nearly cost the lives of them both. Billie could sense her husband's disappointment at not having an heir, not having a wife who even wanted to touch him, and their marriage deteriorated further. Billie was the first to ever divorce of her family, much to the chagrin of her parents. Finally having had enough of their opinions, Billie took up the librarian post at Hogwarts to support her daughters, finding a home amongst the library shelves all over again. Though still, something was missing. That was, until Billie met Angel. They fell hard and fast in a way that Billie never had before. The reaction from her family was less than ideal, and the subsequent marriage between the two women almost drove a permanent wedge between them- though miraculously they came to a begrudging acceptance at seeing their youngest daughter truly happy. The women adopted a son together, a boy they named Jameson Alexander, and began building their blended family together, even with mixed support from the father of Billie's kids. They settled comfortably until everything came crashing down following the attack on Gryffindor tower, which claimed the life of six Gryffindor girls, among them Astor. Billie was devastated, taking temporary leave from work to address her grief. There was little time to mourn, however, as Siobhan and Jameson still needed to be cared for- as well as the surprise of Angel becoming pregnant after another attempt at fertility treatments shortly before the attack. The timing wasn't optimal, but Billie is tentatively returning to work in the coming fall term, bottling her emotions as always, desperately trying to provide for her wife and children without falling apart.
