Nice, loyal, hard-working, these are what Hufflepuffs, and more importantly, Matias, is made of. He embodies these traits in an extensive network of friends that he seems to pick up with little effort. Empathetic and loving, Matias will be the first to cry with his friends at their sorrows, or celebrate their victories. People, especially his family, are very important to him. He trusts perhaps a bit too readily, and is easily taken advantage of, but ever the optimist Matias refuses to learn his lesson and remains as open and accepting as ever. His inattentive, forgetful nature makes him come off as not terribly bright as he bumbles through life, misplacing things and tripping on his own shoelaces- but Matias has smarts in his own way, and often gives good advice when asked. An unfortunate coward, Matias is easily startled and tends to flee from conflict- except when faced with dragons, which he inexplicably adores. family information
biography Cailida grew up in the Carribean with no knowledge of the wizarding world. Her family moved around quite a bit, so when she started showing signs of magic it was easy to hide at first. Her family had just moved to London when she got her Hogwarts letter. Cailida went off to school, but her family ended up drifting on without their daughter, leaving her to spend summers at the orphanage. It wasn’t until after Hogwarts that Cailida met Oliver at the Ministry of Magic. They fell in love quickly and settled down in the English countryside. Matias (affectionately Matt or Mati) was born last of the three Hayes children, and the only boy. His elder sisters were doting on him, Cynthia especially, and he grew up quite close with them, as well as their parents. Matias was the last by several years to go to Hogwarts, though found he didn't mind as much because he could have his mother's attention all to himself when his sisters were at school. At eleven he finally followed them to Hogwarts, where he continued in the Hayes family legacy of being sorted into Hufflepuff. He did poorly in most classes, barely scraping by most of the time, but it was his third year where Matias found the arenas in which he excelled, those being Care of Magical Creatures (to no one's surprise), and Quidditch, where his slight frame that he was self-conscious of, was a valuable asset as a seeker. Having found his passions, muddling by in school became a bit easier for Matias. The second half of his third year became more trying- with the attack on Gryffindor tower Matias became a bit of a nervous wreck, always looking over his shoulder in anticipation of something else terrible happening. The vampire attack of his sister Avery about made him have a nervous breakdown, though Matias is coming to learn to accept it, as he really does love his sister. With his fourth year now looming on the horizon, Matias finds himself cautiously optimistic about what the year might bring (as bleak as current events seem), while simultaneously rather uncomfortable with everyone talking to him about girls...
