biography John Dawlish was commended as an excellent wizard, known for receiving "Outstanding" on all his N.E.W.T.s. However, the man was also known for supporting the Death Eater-controlled Ministry during the second wizarding war and executing many of their main agenda points, such as capturing muggle-borns. Kingsley Shacklebolt had John arrested after the war for his involvement What people didn't know about the former Auror was that he married a werewolf, Helen Dawlish, something she kept concealed from her husband for years, with difficulty given how brilliant he was. Luckily, the war kept him rather preoccupied after the birth of their children, whose pregnancies also helped her keep her secret. Wesley was the firstborn of the Dawlish family, and the only son of the pair, born just before Harry Potter reached his time at Hogwarts. Thelma was born four years later, and Louise two years succeeding that, and they each knew the trials and tribulations the war had brought them. Helen raised her children to know what they were, what their mother was. But, because of their father's reputation, she made it very clear that no one else could know what they were. After John's arrest, Wesley disregarded this rule a little more, but he knew that after his father served his sentence, it was likely he would go after his mother and his children as they were half-breeds. Of course, rumors of John Dawlish's deteriorating mental state were also rife, so perhaps the family would luck out, but Wes didn't keep his hopes terribly high. He decided it was best to lie low, in school where he was a Ravenclaw, and even after his graduation. He didn't pursue anything where glory or attention was present, knowing it could be his undoing.
