here is where we can discuss things that regard the site-wide plot.

plot details

alliances

children of the moon:

• kai lennox was pushed to take the leadership position within the children of the moon from his second-in-command, lauren allard in the summer of 2020.
• after a falling out between the two, lauren left the country, leaving kai alone.
• a falling out with his sister, kaiko lennox, caused kai lennox to step down from the position of leader of the children of the moon.
• andrei le torneau replaced kai, with kaiko and kai taking over as second-in-commands
• tension ran high, with kai's pack separating as kaiko rises to challenge his alpha status.
  
  
• andrei and kai met with the head and second-in-command of the order of the phoenix, alongside double agent hanson reid, to discuss the terms of an order/children alliance. this alliance, to start, is shaky at best, with many of the children of the moon being uneasy about the supposed support of the order.
  
  
• felicity morrow, a seven-century-old vampire, is staging a secret upheaval of leadership, claiming to members in secret that she could do a better job than andrei. word has not gotten to him about this yet.
  
  
• the death eaters and followers of death attack the potter home and kidnap harry potter. the order and children both attempted to defend the household, to no avail. few children members were present to help, leaving the order to further be uncomfortable with the alliance, and making it clear that not everyone supports it.

death eaters:

• the death eaters had voted kim su bin as their leader, with ezra knight and icarus sanchez as his second-in-commands. kim disappeared shortly after, leaving the death eaters without a leader once more.
• having had the most votes after kim, marianna lestrange rose to leadership, with domnall latrell and victoire le blanc becoming her second-in-commands.
• vitoria malfoy came to lestrange in january 2021 with news of a potential secret weapon, hidden among her father's things. the pair deciphered a code, revealing this weapon's location.
• in february of 2021, lestrange ordered her father, rodolphus lestrange, basilio caruso, and gabrielle le blanc (her second-in-command's daughter) to seek out this weapon.
  
  
• the timeline for the release of the weapon was moved up due to piper steele's betrayal. le blanc and lestrange, along with a third death eater, sneaked into the school and broke into the room of requirement, unleashing the creature into the school. it escaped after killing six gryffindors, alongside the three death eaters sent to release it.
  
  
• after their weapon escaped, the death eaters eventually found that the creature was death itself. the creature revealed that the dark mark was appropriated by tom riddle incorrectly - rather than being the mark of the elite, it is the mark of death.
  
  
• death revealed the ability to unmark its victims, starting with vitoria malfoy, followed closely by victoire le blanc. the former, because she was the reason it was let out in the first place - the latter, because of the information she provided about the location of the deathly hallows.
  
  
• with the reveal of death, the death eaters were split between those that followed death, and those that still called themselves "death eaters." the former formed their own alliance, and the death eaters continued to follow marianna. despite this, they are aligned factions, and the death eaters are merely a food source for death.
  
  
• the death eaters were roped into helping with the kidnapping of harry potter, and have a "distraction" role to play in death's next plot during the attack on the ministry of magic, though only marianna lestrange seems to know what's going to happen next.

order of the phoenix:

• the order was in shambles for a while, with the leader shifting in and out. First was nina hart, who only held the position for a month before vanishing. the next, benjamin braddock. he lasted only slightly longer, but he too eventually disappeared.
• piper steele took the position of the leader of the order shortly before christmas.
• in february, 2021, she revealed to the order that she was a former member of the death eaters, brainwashed as a young adult into following them. the response was mixed, by the majority of the order still stands behind her.
  
  
• the order agreed that piper steele should not be involved in the hunting down of this weapon, fearing that her proximity to marianna would be their undoing. unfortunately, they were too late to stop the creature from being released.
  
  
• trust in piper steele restored, the order of the phoenix quickly rallied together under her. claire fernsby was named second-in-command, followed quickly by lizaveta jacobi.
  
  
• piper steele, alongside claire fernsby, used hanson reid's double agent status to arrange a meeting with the children of the moon's leader and second-in-command. they reached a tentative agreement with the children for an alliance.
  
  
• the death eaters and followers of death attack the potter home and kidnap harry potter. the order and children both attempted to defend the household, to no avail - once more, caught off-guard.
  
  
• having vitoria malfoy and elena caruso as moles of sorts, the order now has the knowledge of where and (roughly) when death is going to attack next. because of this, they called an order with the children of the moon, though it's off to less than a stellar start.
  

followers of death:

• after revealing itself to the death eaters, death approach khun mae choen-blum's coven of vampires - one of the biggest in the area. it revealed itself to be their creator. as a result, the followers of death were formed, and are comprised of mainly vampires following death's will.
  
  
• many death eaters defected from marianna lestrange, under the implication from death that their marks would be removed for good behavior.
  
  
• death took its followers and, with the assistance of the death eaters, attacked and raided the potter home. it took the invisibility cloak and harry potter himself, though only those deeply involved in the war are aware of this fact.
  
  
• the followers of death, particularly its vampire members, are being tasked with attacking the ministry of magic next - the elder wand is their goal, hidden away in the department of mysteries by harry potter himself when kingsley shacklebolt was minister.

world events

"big bad"

• vitoria malfoy sent a letter to marianna lestrange at the beginning of december, 2020, about something she had found. this letter was passed along to piper steele, though she collapsed and had a vision before she could read it. in this vision, she witnessed hogwarts, burning, as well as untold death and destruction at the hands of someone who resembled damien malvolio - vitoria's brother.
• vitoria and marianna meet in january of 2021. vitoria presents marianna with a journal that belonged to her grandfather. some of the words were blocked out, and the pair managed to undo the charm. the message was as follows:
  
  "He told me of something he found, when he was still a boy... after he had opened the Chamber, when he learned he could not continue his work for the Pureblood cause while still at school. He claims it is something that will help us, something of great power.
  
  A secret weapon.
  
  He plans to release it, once he takes control of the Ministry and kills the child of the prophecy. Without access to the castle, it cannot be found, nor can it be released.
  
  You must go to the room where dark secrets are hidden, where dark answers arise. Pass by the door three times and think of nothing but finding that powerful, ancient magic. There will be a door at the back of the room, sealed tight.
  
  Bring something for it to feed on."
  
• three death eaters sneaked into the school, releasing the creature. it disappeared from the castle and out into the world. the only hint of the monster in the press is a muggle village that had been completely wiped out. the muggles assumed that a serial killer is in their midst, and the wizarding world pushed that narrative forward.
  
  
• eventually, the creature revealed itself to death, a fact that is only rumor to those not involved in the war. the ministry did its best to conceal it, but after the attack on the potter household, it became difficult to ignore.

hogwarts:

• at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, hogwarts added theatre, choir, and band to its curriculum.
• after months of hogwarts not having a steady headmaster, bouncing between nina hart and benjamin braddock, piper steele was named deputy headmistress.
• the school was abuzz with rumor in january 2021, when professor steele collapsed in one of her upper level divination classes - a vision of great proportions being the cause.
• in february 2021, a permanent solution to leadership within the castle was established: headmaster kazumi kobayashi.
  
  
• with the safety of his students in mind, headmaster kobayashi put both professor steele and marianna lestrange on temporary leave after a tip from the former about the latter being the leader of the death eaters.
  
  
• the creature attacked the gryffindor tower after being released from the room of requirement, killing six female gryffindor students. the school was placed into lock down before headmaster kobayashi informed the students and staff as to what he and the head of gryffindor, professor mikael stratton, witnessed.
  
  
• marianna lestrange was fired from her position as defense against the dark arts professor, though she fled the school before she could be confronted. rumor has it that she was briefly stopped by the flying professor, damien malvolio, but no one can confirm this.
  
  
• with much chagrin, kazumi kobayashi decided to hire lauren allard as marianna lestrange's replacement - despite her vampirism, she seems as though she will be a good fit for the school.

war:

• within the fall of 2020, whispers of rising factions grew, with war being feared.
• in november of 2020, there was a large breakout within azkaban. several dangerous dark wizards and witches, as well as several known followers of the previous dark lord, escaped. suspicions about the death eaters continued to rise.
• in january of 2021, lucinda rose, editor-in-chief of witch weekly, was found murdered. a known vampire and advocate of halfbreeds, miss rose was found decapitated, the dark mark crudely carved into her left forearm. this marks the first public acknowledgement of the death eaters.
  
  
• with the attack on hogwarts in march of 2021, the war seemed to have officially begun. the ministry, however, refused to acknowledge this fact.
  
  
• the ministry of magic, in the months following the attach, maintained a gag order on the media and would have rather hid the truth than acknowledge it. after an advertisement from the daily prophet, and a full-blown article from witch weekly, the gag order was broken.
  
  
• the minister of magic was called into question and, after the attack on the potter household, draven rothhart couldn't bear it anymore. the man went into hiding, and the ministry seems keen on replacing him. rumor is that shyla tang is being groomed to take the position.
