Sonia stumbled, hands on her knees, chest heaving. She should have embraced the chaos around her, relished in all of the screams and blood and death, but instead her chest was tightening, she couldn’t breathe behind her Kindred mask. As the guests who hadn’t yet been massacred fled towards a hole blasted in one of the building’s walls, Sonia had retreated further into the structure, trying to find somewhere, anywhere, she could compose herself. A charred potted plant ended up being the target, but that wasn’t safe either. A man lay dead behind it, entrails pulled from his abdomen. Sonia wanted to scream, but instead turned and vomited, the bile burning her throat. If she’d known that this was what would be required to serve Death, she wouldn’t have done it. But what alternative did she have? The Mark still burned dark and brilliant on her forearm- forever tying her to the entity who inspired this carnage. Marianna hadn’t been able to shelter her, or anyone, from the horror she’d loosed into the world, Sonia had thought servitude would protect her, keep her away from all of this, but instead she was meant to cause it. Sonia retched again, but had nothing left to bring up, her shoulders heaving, shaking. She couldn’t do this… All these bodies in this burning building, they had been her enemies on paper, but they were just people, just like everyone else who would die as Death’s minions spilled out into the night after the would-be escapees. This was only the beginning. London would fall soon after. Sonia ripped off her mask, revealing a tear-streaked, soot-stained face, and threw it to the ground. She could almost breathe easier already, but knew she’d be expected to rejoin the fray. But what good was servitude if the whole of the world was gone? In a moment of either intense bravery or grave stupidity, Sonia made up her mind. She spotted Cressida Robinne, locked in a duel with one of Death’s servants. Where better to make amends than where she had gone wrong in the first place? She approached her opponent from behind, dropping him wordlessly with a spell. Wand still poised, Sonia looked to Cressida, her chest still heaving with deep breaths as she fought to remain calm. “Come with me if you want to live,” Sonia said, offering out her opposite hand. Cressida had no reason to trust her, but just as Sonia’s membership in the Kindred had been, she didn’t have much choice otherwise. MADE BY VEL OF GS

cressida elaine robinne Cressida never would have expected that the life of a professional Quidditch player came with so many invitations to so many events. And on top of that, she had gotten an invitation to a gala through the Order, only a couple of weeks ago. All in all, she attended one of these kind of events almost weekly, and that was before she had even played one official game of Quidditch with the Magpies. She had lost all her muscle mass during her captivity with the Kindred and on top of that, her legs and ankles had been broken, or more accurately, crushed before she was delivered to her brother's doorstep. And so it became obvious very soon after she started training with the Magpies that she wouldn't be playing with the Magpies until after the winter break of the competition. Either way, she was there through the order that evening. She hadn't done any official Order business since the safe house attacks, where she was captured, but still, every single member of the Order of the Phoenix and the Children of the Moon seemed to have been invited by Ivan Allucard that evening. Though, it was hard to recognise anyone, due to the masks that everyone had been asked to wear. Cress was dressed similar to how she had come to all the other events of the past months; a floor-length dress that covered up her flat shoes, and a back that would cover her scars. She had been floating through the room trying to find a familiar face behind the masks, when Ivan started his opening speech. Right before everything fell apart. How stupid had they been? To fall for a trap that gathered everyone within the Order and Children at the same location when they knew their enemies were still out there wanting to defeat them in this war? Cress' hands were shaking as she took out her wand, it all seemed far too familiar to her. The fighting, the people falling to the ground one by one around her. Her heart was beating in her chest as she told herself to get herself together, right in time to avoid a spell casted her way. Before she knew it, she was wrapped up in a duel with someone who clearly did not belong to her side. While Cress had always been rather positive and fearless in any missions relating to the Order, sometimes more of a danger to herself than to others, that seemed to have changed since the last time. And so, her mind instantly told her there was no way of getting out of here. If she was lucky, she could defeat her opponent, but they already seemed much stronger than her, but then there was still no way of getting out of this venue alive. That was, until someone knocked out her opponent from behind, and she saw the face of her nightmares extending a hand to her. “Come with me if you want to live,”
Tearing off her own mask, Cress looked at the woman ho had chased her around the past months. The one who was sent after her to haunt her even after the Kindred let her go. A reminder that they were the ones who had decided that she would live, but they were also the ones who decided when to dispose of her. She could have easily refused the hand extended to her, and she was truly about to. Until her eyes moved up to Sonia's face, she had been crying, and almost looked as scared as Cress felt. And so, Cress decided that she would die either way if she stayed here, so she might as well take the chance and believe that this woman could do some good. "Please get me out of here," She muttered, as she took a step forward and grabbed Sonia Flint's hand, holding onto it, like her life depended on it.

The gravity of what she’d just committed to had yet to hit Sonia as she stared down Cressida, her eyes no longer showing determination or hatred, but fear. Years of molding, lying, manipulation had led her to this point, and when it came down to it, Sonia was going to fail everyone, herself included. Turning her back now was tantamount to suicide, but then again, since the day Marianna had placed her Mark on Sonia’s forearm, the eldest Flint daughter had always been destined to be an outsider. Never quite safe. She played pretend with her career, throwing herself headlong into the glamor and spotlight as Ransom had. Ransom. Presumably her brother too was in this mess somewhere, was he as shaken by it all as she was? The pair of them had often sat together in shell shocked silence after more grueling missions, but Ransom had always seemed to be able to recover, or maybe he was simply better at hiding it. But Sonia couldn’t risk trying to find him now, she was convinced that by making the mental decision a target would be immediately painted on her back. Perhaps it might, if Noa were nearby, happened to be digging through her thoughts at the wrong time. She’d just have to hope any legilimens lurking about were otherwise occupied. Cress looked up at her, eyes wide like a deer caught in the headlights- she’d seemed so strong, anyone who had survived Noa had to be, but now she looked frail and afraid. At least she was in good company. Sonia swallowed hard, half-expecting to have a hex shot at her throat- she’d have deserved it, after all the things she’d done, especially from Cressida. But that night Sonia wasn’t the only person defying expectations. The girl who had once been her enemy instead snatched her hand in a vice-like grip, immediately accepting her tormentor as a savior instead. “Please get me out of here,”Sonia nodded once, and then began to lead them- not toward the breach in the wall, but back by the charred potted plant, the dead disemboweled man. She couldn’t bear to look at him again, but wasn’t planning on it. The mask she’d left behind on the floor would get them out of this- again, provided no one who could sift through thoughts picked them. “Put this on, nobody will look twice,” said Sonia, picking up her blood-spattered mask from the floor and extending it to Cressida. Hopefully she wouldn’t argue. MADE BY VEL OF GS

cressida elaine robinne Cress was honestly done with being tough and strong. She was honestly worn out after all the past months. She had thought she was worn down after she was released from the Kindred's captivity, but the past months being haunted by their ghosts, mainly in the shape of Sonia Flint, had broken her even more than Noa and her accomplishes had already done when she was their prisoner. This party, all these people dying, seemed to be somewhat of the last straw for Cress.
The chaos surrounding her was deafening, and a deep contrast to the silence in her head. Her mind was empty as she looked around, realising that there was no way out from where she was standing at least. She hadn't had a sip of the drink, so at least she was saved the slow death that the poison caused. Though everything was better than being captured by the Kindred again.
It was clear that when the main subjects of her nightmares of the past months, showed up in front of her and offered her a way out, there was no choice but for Cress to take Sonia's hand, and follow her blindly. As if the two of them had not been wrapped up in a cat and mouse play ever since Cress was released by the Kindred.
“Put this on, nobody will look twice,”
It was a bad idea. A terrible, horrible idea to put on a nearly blinding mask while your worst enemy promised to get you out of a space filled with even more of your enemies. She realised that if this was how she would die, it would be caused solely by her own stupidity. "I swear that I will kill you if this is a trap," she said, before pulling her mask over her eyes. Immediately, she was grabbed Sonia's hand again, holding onto it tightly. The mask even, was comforting in a way, blurring her vision on all the gruesome and cruel things happening to her fellow Order Members and Children of the Moon. She could only wonder about what would be left of them after this massacre.

Cressida hesitated when Sonia extended her the mask. The Flint girl grit her teeth, they didn’t have time for this, and she didn’t want to regret her decision to help. Noa, Damien, or any other number of the Kindred would have her head for this. A fact which was deeply sobering, considering the words Death had spoken before the Kindred and its followers were loosed on the unsuspecting Children and Order. London would burn tonight. All against it would die. The most Sonia could reasonably do was buy them some time. Maybe it would have been kinder to kill her, and then herself, save them the trouble, the suffering, but when push came to shove, Sonia couldn’t do it anymore. She may have been many things, but she wasn’t a murderer. Something she wished she could have seen well before this point, something she wished she hadn’t bought into under Marianna, and now under Damien and Noa. She’d been hoodwinked all along, lied to about some sort of superior blood. Couldn’t they have been better without killing? But it was too late to go back. “I swear that I will kill you if this is a trap,”Sonia might have found it funny if the battle around them weren’t so serious. “I’m not that clever, kitten,” Sonia said, dismissing the fear, or at least trying to. If Cressida were going to die tonight, it wouldn’t be Sonia who struck her down. Cress, of course, had no reason to trust her, however. Sonia wouldn’t blame her if she’d tried to fight her instead of accepting her help. But now here they were, an Order member and a traitor, who needed to make an unnoticed escape. Putting her mask on Cress was a half-baked plan at best, but if anyone could walk around unmasked without being targeted it was one of the Kindred. They just needed to slip away, act like they were going after one of the stragglers. Sonia’s pulse was surging, was Noa lurking about somewhere? She never had really learned how to guard her thoughts. Her desertion was bound to be noticed at some point, but they needed to get out of here before that happened. “Keep your wand out, throw random spells or something,” Sonia muttered to Cressida, dragging her toward the blasted hole in the wall where other Kindred and vampires were chasing after their escaping foes. Sonia led by example, shooting a series of sparks at no one in particular. They needed to blend into the chaos to make their escape. MADE BY VEL OF GS

cressida elaine robinne Sonia Flint was practically a stranger to Cress, and yet Cress had put all her trust into this woman. She had decided to take her hand in this chaos, to let her lead her out of there, preferably alive. In the woman who had haunted her in the weeks after she was released from captivity by the Kindred, a woman who she had learned was a part of them as well. Still, Cress saw that Sonia wasn't on their side. Not anymore, or not during this masquerade anyways. That was at least if this wasn't all just one big coy, attempting to lure Cress out of the venue to kill her there. Either way, Cress took her chances, she couldn't turn back now anyways.
“Keep your wand out, throw random spells or something,”
Cress was almost shocked to learn that she did not only put her trust in Sonia Flint, but she was also doing exactly as she told. With the mask covering her face, she threw spells left and right as she trusted Sonia blindly to take the best route out of there. Cress found even that, when someone cast a spell their way, she threw up a defensive spell, protecting both her and Sonia.
Cress wasn't sure how they made it out alive, but at some point she felt raindrops on her bare arms. She used the hand that she held her wand in to push the mask over her head, throwing it to the ground. Her other hand still held onto Sonia's. "Hold on," Cress said to Sonia, and within seconds, apparated the two of them to her appartement in Muggle London. Cress had been living with her parents since being released from the hospital, but everything was still the same as it had been when she left it all those months ago, before being captured.
When they'd been standing outside of that mansion, Cress had felt the urge to get the upper hand, to leave Sonia no chance of killing her, even if she had said to Cress that she wasn't that clever. Hence, she had decided that she would be the one to choose where they apparated to. As the two of them tumbled to her living room floor, Cress instantly got on top of Sonia, pinning her arms and legs to the floor. The gown she was wearing was incredibly impractical to be holding someone to the ground, but she tried not to let that stop her. "What the hell just happened?" Cress was breathing heavily as she looked down at the woman beneath her. "Was this whole masquerade just one big trap?" Cress asked, her voice not more than a whisper by then as the adrenaline started to wear off and tears appeared in her eyes.

Sonia tried her best not to take in more of the carnage than she already had as she made her escape with Cress. Putting her Kindred mask on the other woman and pretending to fire attacks seemed to do the trick in keeping attention away from them for the time being- but Sonia was afraid someone might call her bluff before they could get outside of the apparation wards. All it would take was getting too close to Noa, or some other legilimens lurking in their ranks… Miraculously, despite a barrage of spells that came their way, they made it outside. “Hold on,” Sonia didn’t have time to protest, or even try to apparate them away from London, before Cressida whisked them away. Being dragged along to an unknown location filled her with panic- maybe saving an Order member hadn’t been a good idea. What if Cress was taking her captive in exchange for saving her life? The Order was practically a flock of sitting ducks, what with Death at its full power and the order to take over the world given to its children. They wouldn’t be able to keep her safe, even under lock and key, they were as good as doomed. What had she done? When they materialized in what looked like a living room, Sonia gulped down air fervently, as if she’d been saved from drowning. Doomed, doomed, they were all doomed, they’d only delayed their grisly ends, not prevented them. Her heart was practically in her throat, despite the hyperventilating she couldn’t breathe… Before she could even begin to collect herself, Sonia was suddenly tackled to the ground, pinned into place by Cressida stradled atop her hips, her hands pressing Sonia’s wrists against the floor. She let go of her wand, letting it clatter to the floor and roll out of grasp, a gesture of surrender. Sonia didn’t want to hurt Cress, she didn’t want to hurt anyone, not anymore. “What the hell just happened? Was this whole masquerade just one big trap?"Sonia found tears of her own, still desperately trying to breathe, enough so to be able to choke out something, anything of a response. “Y-yes,” Sonia stammered when she managed to calm down slightly, “but I didn’t know Death would show up. I-It was Ivan’s plan all along, I d-d-don’t know more than that, it wasn’t s-supposed to be like that, I- I-”Sonia dissolved into tears, unable to finish the sentence, unsure what she was even trying to say to begin with. cressida elaine robinne “Y-yes, but I didn’t know Death would show up. I-It was Ivan’s plan all along, I d-d-don’t know more than that, it wasn’t s-supposed to be like that, I- I-”
Cress was startled and confused that after one second of her straddling the other woman to the floor of her living room, Sonia burst into tears. She blinked her eyes as she looked down at her, her own tears falling down her cheeks as she did so, dripping onto Sonia's hair. She noticed that Sonia let go of her wand, it rolling to the side of the room. Cress then loosened her grip on Sonia, her own sign of trust towards the other woman. "I- I'm sorry," Cress mumbled, her voice not a lot more than a whisper. She wasn't exactly sure why she apologised, but it may have to do something with how she was handling this situation, making Sonia cry.
She got off Sonia, rolling onto the floor next to her, staring up at the ceiling. Cress reached out to grab Sonia's wand. She really wanted to trust her, truly, but she couldn't get herself to do so fully. "I'm just gonna keep this with me in case you change your mind and decide you want to kill me after all," she said, putting the wand into her pocket, along with her own. "Why did you get me out of there anyways?" Cress asked, turning her face towards Sonia, looking at her from the side as both of them were still laying on their backs on the floor. "I thought you were sent to haunt me or even kill me these past months." Cress said. She had believed that after being released from the Kindred's prison cells, she'd simply been living on borrowed time.
"Do you have any idea what we should do?" Cress asked then, realising how she was already talking as if the two of them would stay together through this. For some reason, Cress liked that idea, even if it also scared her. "I don't think we will be particularly save here," she said, trying not to think of who else she knew to be back at that masquerade. Of the people she knew who may not be so lucky to make it out.
