biography Briseis doesn’t know much of her biological family, just that her mother was quite young when she was born and therefore dropped her off at an orphanage in the United States. She happened to be adopted by a magical family who’d long wanted another child, but had been unable to conceive after their first two. Maria and Christopher were from the UK, but spent time in the states until their eldest was nearing school age, at which point they moved back to London to ensure all of the children could go to Hogwarts. Briseis, or Brie as she quickly became known, was only four when the family moved, so she remembers little of their time abroad. As soon as they moved, she was put in a ballet class for young girls and became obsessed. Her parents were more than happy to encourage her dancing, especially as their eldest children went off to Hogwarts and they were unsure if their youngest even had any magical blood. Thankfully, at around age nine, Brie began showing signs of magic, normally by lofting things up in the air and turning them about, which turned out later to be an elemental trait she had apparently inherited from a biological family member. Brie was never particularly close with her siblings, due to the age gap between them and how different they all were. Penelope was strong and courageous, never paying too much mind to little Brie, but never being cold either. Leander tended to tease her when they were young, but they’ve grown closer as they’ve aged. All three still visit their parents once a month or so and keep in touch as best they can. Her siblings were nearly out of school by the time Brie turned eleven and was able to be sorted. Not finding anything strong in her to sort on, the sorting hat placed her in Hufflepuff, where Brie spent most of the time blending into the shadows. She wasn’t a social butterfly, but had a few close friends who she told at every moment she could about her love for dance. Brie wasn’t the best at school, but she did well enough to get by, graduate, and then get to what really mattered to her- getting a job at the ballet. Brie loved her job at the ballet, quickly rising to the role of a principal dancer by the time she turned twenty-one. Her special use of air magic has helped her craft beautiful solo and duet pieces with the other dancers, lofting them high into the air during jumps and helping them to twist around in magical ways. Due to her work being so rigorous, Brie hasn’t had too much of a chance to have a big social life or to get particularly involved in the war. It scares her, especially the thought of losing someone she cares about, so she tries to avoid talk of the war at all costs.
