feng shui don't leave me hanging, i'm coming for you. general info
personality
the smell of burning parchment as it curls up in a fire, raised voices in heated argument, knuckles splotched red, small smiles hidden behind a book, feet aching and calloused soles, the radiating heat of a slow burner, dust smudged across the forehead family information
biography born the second son of the feng family, shui was always too ambitious for his own good. he wanted to do it all and do it well and do it now; a combination of strong forces that left him reckless and argumentative from childhood. despite these less-than-admirable qualities at times, he always considered himself close to his family. his mother, in particular, was a champion for him from a young age; thus, they grew close. originally, the plan was for shui to follow his brother’s path and attend hogwarts. however, eager to see more of the world and not thrilled with the prospect of living in his brother’s shadow, shui convinced his parents to let him attend fenghuang instead. though unconventional, the arrangement made sense; shui was able to stay with the extended family they had in the area and attend a school with classes, people, and a chance to be his own person that shui much preferred. in the summers he returned to live with his family, but by the end of their months together he was always itching to get back to fenghuang around the community he felt the most connected to. at school, shui enjoyed a life of popularity and prosperity. he did well in his classes, but like his brother before him, his interests singled in on alchemy. the subject suited his mind well, and he saw possibility in the formulas and magic. when he wasn’t racing around the courtyard with his friends, he delved into research and his interest solidified. this, he was certain, was what he wanted to do when he grew older. the promise of creating something knew and ideas of being something great were too good to pass up. though shui was a generally positive & friendly person, they were a few among his class that he simply didn’t get along with. one of those people was his academic rival: another boy, equally as ambitious and quick to return any quip or frustrated remark that shui gave. tensions rose over the years and the surface broke in may of shui’s sixth year. an argument escalated to the point of thrown fists, instigated by shui in a fit of anger that he maintains was his biggest mistake. unwelcome back at fenghuang, he transferred to hogwarts his seventh year to finish his schooling. for the most part, he kept the reason for his transfer a secret. unlike his life at fenghuang, shui spent his year at hogwarts keeping to himself and studying. the years that followed were a blur. thomas, the alchemy professor at hogwarts at the time, saw shui’s potential and recommended him for an apprenticeship under nathalia. shui spent the next four years traveling with her around the globe, studying alchemy and claiming that life as his own. it wasn’t long before he was able to shrug off the persona he adopted at hogwarts and fall back into his old ways of ambition and friendliness. for the most part, he tries to keep his recklessness under close eye as they have come back to london with the progression of death. but old habits die hard; and nothing can be ignored forever.
