biography Genevieve, or just Gen, grew up in a normal home in London. She had a loving family that was well respected in their community, even if there were some odd happenings around the household due to the fact that both she and her brother Max were magical. This fact became well-known at an early age for both of them. Her family loved her and her brother even though they were not what most average muggles would call normal. One day, in the summer after Gen turned ten, however, a particularly unstable wizard activist discovered the nature of Gen's family. In his attempt to eradicate the Alighieri's, or what he called a disgrace to the wizarding world, the man only killed Gen's father, who had put his life on the line to protect Gen and his family. The man was stupified and ended up being quickly detained and sentenced to life in Azkaban. Apparently, he had a long string of murders to his name and Gen's father was just the most recent of the crazed man's spree. After her father's death, Gen's mother came upon troubles, trying to keep the house and keep the family fed. It was then that she met a man named Stefan that would become Gen's stepfather. She grew to love this man who soon revealed himself to be a wizard after they were married. At first, he seemed like the perfect husband and father, but after a few months, he let the act slowly start to slip and instead became a mean-spirited man who drank frequently and constantly verbally abused Gen, Max, and their mother. Genevieve was in her third year at Hogwarts, home for summer before she entered her fourth year, that it happened. Although physical abuse was not a common occurrence at their house, it was on one day that summer that Stefan became extremely drunk and viciously beat Gen to the point where she was knocked unconscious and was taken to St. Mungo's. She never told her mother or anyone what happened, instead saying she fell down the stairs, knowing her mother loved Stefan despite his nature and not wanting to cause any more fuss. She has no idea that Max saw what happened. From there, things changed. Gen stopped coming home for Christmas holiday, instead staying at Hogwarts, and made herself scarce during the summer. She always found friends to stay with when she could. When she graduated from Hogwarts, she moved to Hogsmeade, so she could still be close to her brother, She rented an apartment above the Three Broomsticks until she had saved enough money for the down payment on a house, and got a job at Scrivenshaft's Quill Shoppe, where she rose quickly to Manager, despite being so young. She refuses to talk about what happens and all but refuses to return home to visit her mother and stepfather, but she still stays close to her brother and loves him dearly.
